I totally get and support whitelisting for a friends+family instance, or for a school instance, or a work instance, etc.
I don't support whitelisting for a public instance, that federates with non-whitelist instances.

Certain servers/versions have this usecase in mind.

@masterofthetiger @realcaseyrollins I get the benefit of whitelist mode but I wouldn't consider a whitelisted instance "part of the Fediverse" because it isn't.
