Making Things We Know Will Disappear

When kids decide to create something, a kind of magic happens – they just start creating it. They build and make and design all at once without hesitation or fear. The things break and fall down, and they just try again. Sometimes they “make” things just in the world of their imagination, creating elaborate landscapes or histories or machines or friends that never leave the world of pretend. They still throw themselves into that process without concern or shame.

But somewhere on the journey out of childhood, something happens: We start to care. We decide that, if we are going to bother to create something, it should be “good.” Or more extreme, we decide that it should be “important.”

@gaywonk what this post misses is that YouTube viewers are more likely to do nothing than TV viewers. People who watch cable TV, specifically cable news, can (and will) probably actually vote. YouTube viewers are more likely to just make memes.

@gaywonk the media still has lots of impact.

It's stupid to say Steven Crowder has more impact than Fox News.

@11thHour the real question is why do people * still * think that happened.

Should I have both a main * and * a SFW alt account?

(Which is @realcaseyrollins@civiq.social btw)

Should I repost more or less often

@design_RG Losing FS1 & FS2 isn't that big a deal tho...they don't have many live sports worth buying anyways, and the talk shows they air are in podcast form on TuneIn anyways

@design_RG It's pretty terrible, as heading into the 2020 election cycle, the only choices will be and . IMHO all political perspectives should be at least somewhat represented.

@realcaseyrollins @freemo Fedilab Lite has same crimped limit, see screenshot.

Like my Dark mode and Swift keyboard on it too.
