@design_RG Will do. I have plenty of homework to dig into tonight!
@realcaseyrollins I remember reading a real nice story - part of the Jargon File.
This was "The Story of Mel, a Real Programmer". These date to a time when a hacker was a highly skilled MIT computer scientist, working in low level languages and squeezing the most from anemic systems.
You got to read this -- but do it when you are rested, and enjoy, It's a great piece.

The whole Jargon File is great fun. I remember another story on it called the Magic switch, also wonderful reading.
@realcaseyrollins I would refer you to the classic "Jargon File".
Which goes back to when hackers were computer scientists, very brilliant people working at the cutting edge, doing the best with the little power and storage that they could access at the time.
It was seen as a badge of Honour, not a negative implication as a break-in artist of somewhat shady character like the media has been implying for many years now.
"The Meaning of ‘Hack’
“The word hack doesn't really have 69 different meanings”, according to MIT hacker Phil Agre. “In fact, hack has only one meaning, an extremely subtle and profound one which defies articulation. Which connotation is implied by a given use of the word depends in similarly profound ways on the context. Similar remarks apply to a couple of other hacker words, most notably random.”
Hacking might be characterized as ‘an appropriate application of ingenuity’. Whether the result is a quick-and-dirty patchwork job or a carefully crafted work of art, you have to admire the cleverness that went into it."

" The Nighthawk AX12 is an exceptional router. It’s one of the first wave of 802.11ax devices (also known as Wi-Fi 6), offering real-world download speeds of 60MB/sec and more when accessed from a compatible client. What’s more, it’s the first router we’ve ever seen with 8x8 MU-MIMO capability. That means it can smoothly handle up to eight simultaneous wireless connections – perfect for a modern household that’s packed with smart devices.
The catch? All 802.11ax routers are expensive and this one is pricier than most. Sure, the specs are impressive, but are they really worth £360?"

@melissasage @chead@mastodon.social @koyu@koyu.space @isolategab I think it depends, sometimes there can now be 8 nazis, it depends on how malleable and easily radicalized the non-nazi is.
I think that assumes that when a racist talks to a non racist that they will make such eloquent points that they'll convince one to be racist, which I think is really general and not exactly correct in all cases.
@chead@mastodon.social @melissasage @koyu@koyu.space @isolategab Honestly, there are so few of them they're kinda hard to find on the daily.
@melissasage @chead@mastodon.social @koyu@koyu.space @isolategab I haven't

@chikara I actually don't like edits; I understand that some people might write something the wrong way, but that an inherently human attribute, the fallibility of man, I don't like the idea of erasing that and editing our posts to try and be perfect.
That said, I feel like deleting and redrafting content is defferent than editing like you can on @gab or @facebook@bots.tinysubversions.com

Matthew 22:37-39 is my mantra:
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
But Phillipians 4:4 is my favorite verse of all time:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
