@levisan hm. probably a consumption-level externalities tax, (carbon tax but more holistic) if it was designed well.

although… a land value tax might be better in reality. less prone to manipulation.

slouching like this defeats the ergonomic benefits of the keyboard, you say? maybe, but i'm still typing with my chest open instead of closed, forearm alignment is more relaxed, hands are draped rather than hovering. will def have to watch out for back/neck stiffness of course

slouched split keyboard setup: a "lucky pucker" tripod adapter kit off etsy and some "octopus"-style tripods to mount the moonlander keyboard on. stuffed the tripod legs between the cushions of the chair, adjusted, and presto. (trackpad off to the side on a tablet arm thingy)

I love the whimsy of these apps, and the fact that Mastodon’s API and openness supports the ability to create them. Looking at a community-contributed patch to get them added to the website, too. #retrocomputing #mastodonAPI wedistribute.org/2023/07/masto

@tehstu @evan @kissane is there also a process for the opposite—getting off the blocklist and/or back on to featured lists?

are there instances that have been blocked that deserve to be unblocked? who do they have to convince?

tbh seems not ideal we manage this at the instance level and not the user level.

@levisan ah and you’re not on my instance, so that’s good to know! was starting to think it was a qoto issue since my other tester accounts seemed to log in fine

found a “dossier” folder-cover notebook prototype i handbound at a brant archives workshop a few years back. i still like the concept!

@trinsec @freemo @khird @barefootstache ok, thanks. will check these out! btw, you mentioned installing clients, but elk.zone isn't an app you install — it's an alternate web interface.

@trinsec @freemo @khird @barefootstache huh, interesting — what kind of features are you talking about? haven't stumbled on anything new so far myself.

@trinsec @freemo @khird @barefootstache or maybe i'll just pony up for ivory for mac instead and call it a day. still weird elk doesn't work here though.

@trinsec @freemo @khird @barefootstache ok, thanks. nice to get a glimpse of what you see. the look doesn't appeal to me still (trying dark reader too), but i suppose it's possible i could achieve something i like by writing some CSS into stylish if i got motivated.

@freemo @trinsec @khird @barefootstache hah, i mean, i'm not an extremist on either end — i wouldnt want to live in an empty box OR with clutter. maybe a theme could work? am trying some but not keen on any so far. (and a couple seemed sorta broken?) didnt see any actually dark (or at least grey instead of blue) dark themes as well.

@freemo @khird @trinsec @barefootstache ahh, i prefer less features to be honest (at least visually.) i like my interfaces clean and lean :) same with twitter — i couldnt use it without something like the "minimal twitter" extension.

@freemo @khird @trinsec @barefootstache oh really? @elk is probably the client i've heard folks talk about and talk about using most! prob even more than @ivory and @IceCubesApp

@freemo @khird @trinsec
@barefootstache hey, wasn't sure where to send this, so apologies if this isn't the place... but does qoto.org not support the elk.zone client? elk is (was) my go-to desktop client for mastodon, but now that i've switched to this instance i can't log in to it. (either says "Can't connect" on the domain autofill UI, or "ERROR: TypeError: Failed to fetch" after. doesn't happen with any of my other instance tester accounts!

looks like trash, but i can now keep working with a cat napping on me!
