Also not to mention there has been an Internet Blackout in Kashmir for about 4 months. Don't know when my state will be next.

Hong Kong is protesting since months. China never blocked the internet.

Thank you I realy appreciate that. This place is what it is because of the community though in the end. So it is the QOTO users who really deserve thanks.
You have my full aggreement, amen!
The instance is well run, technically stable and fast, offers a large number of other fediverse projects run locally too (audio, video, forum, github).
The administration is open to suggestions and takes a light handed approach to restricting content. While they have their own preferences, they prefer to allow people to make their own selections on who to follow and restrict federation with other instances only in the few cases were the remote administration is non-cooperative.
A great place too. I recently visited the what I consider the largest fediverse mastodon instance (home of the project developer) and wasn't impressed.
If that had been my first instance, my entry point into the fediverse, I might have left and never returned after a day or two there.
We owe huge kudos and thank yous to our host here, indeed.
Thank you for creating and keeping this place for us all. 👍
I think we don't talk enough how good @freemo has done for this instance. The policy of not blocking almost everything, the word limits, the discussions we have here.... Everything is pretty good. I spent some time in another Instance. But frankly, QOTO seemed much more polished in almost every way. Atleast to me.

Hi, my name is Max Reinhold Jahnke. I'm 34, and I'm a mathematician from São Carlos, Brazil. The main reason I'm here is to write about my hobbies and connect with new people. I love #mathematics, #reading, #writing, #learning foreign #languages, watching TV shows, and playing video games.
I'm a post-doctoral researcher at the Federal University of São Carlos, and my research field is Partial Differential Equations. I will stop here because I don't want to scare anyone.
I usually read science, fiction, and fantasy. My favorite authors are H.P. Lovecraft, G.R.R. Martin, and V.S. Vinge. Now I'm reading the series The Expansion, and I'm loving it.
As I said, I like to learn foreign languages. Some years ago, I studied a little #Esperanto, but I didn't reach a high level. I can read the Esperanto Wikipedia and some news in Esperanto, but can't speak the language.
I'm always learning. Usually, it is mathematics and languages, but I also like to learn about other cultures, science, and technology. Most recently, I began learning how to bake bread, my main interest is in #baking #sourdough.
