@couts In fairness to the city of Rotterdam: They appear in the story not because they were the worst, but because they were the only ones willing to actually share the information on the model. In the words of Annemarie de Rotte, Rotterdam's director of income:

“We decided to give you maximum insight into the model, not only because of our desire to be an open and transparent organization but also to be able to learn from the insights of others.”

That's praiseworthy.

I take my hat off for all people involved in this investigation by WIRED and Lighthouse Reports.

The city of Rotterdam used an " #AI " algorithm to flag people for possible social fraud. Wired et al figured out how this algorithm mostly flagged the most vulnerable people: young single moms with a low income and only basic knowledge of Dutch.

Impressive journalism, showcasing the dangers of politicians not understanding hypes.
