@MarcusMuench The only way to learn is through errors. I started baking bread just a few months ago. The worst thing that happened so far was using twice the sugar required, but I won't be surprised if some spectacular catastrophe happens.

One thing that helps me is the experience of living in a foreign country while learning to read the local script. “Oh, I know some of these characters, this is the station where I get off the train. I’ll look around for the characters meaning toilet. Now, which toilet can I enter without getting arrested?” Basic survival.

@MarcusMuench I have to find out those things myself – no one ever told me :) Living away from stores forces one to rethink many aspects of life.

The hero of this picture is this piece of parchment paper, which prevents the from sticking to the form during baking. Nominally it's single-use, but it already survived four breads and may last for two more. Small steps. BTW, it's not just and . It's compostable.

Took the old rug for a walk in the forest. He doesn't have much of a choice for walks. It's either forest or meadows, and if we want to go to the meadows we have to walk through a forest anyway.

Hallo, ich hab gehört, hier gibt es Nüsse abzuholen, ich wäre womöglich interessiert, wissen Sie da vielleicht Genaueres?

@JMBagniewska Podziwiam za cierpliwość i wytrwałość w obliczu mansplainingu :)

Czy policzyliśmy wszystkie zwierzęta na naszej planecie? Ile globalnie potrzeba pieniędzy, żeby ochronić ptaki przed wyginięciem? Skąd ponownie wzięły się dziki w Wielkiej Brytanii? Na te i inne pytania odpowiadam w podcaście Nauka XXI wieku. podkasty.info/katalog/podkast/

I love this story about how random chance lifted the career of struggling but talented poet.

"...just around the corner, an unknown singer-songwriter was rehearsing with her band. She was struggling with lyrics to match a song that everyone agreed had great potential. During a break in rehearsal, her keyboardist and producer took a short walk to Cliff’s Books, hoping to find inspiration in the poetry section."

People like to act like “this was all so long ago” and I’m just sitting here like…my Grandma is still with us and she’s 93. Some of us still have living relatives who lived through this nightmare.

Don’t let yourself think of it as some long, bygone era that could never happen again.

Hesitation, appeasement, and living in denial let it happen the first time.

Today in 1933, 90 years ago: Adolf Hitler's Nazi Party receives 43.9% at the Reichstag elections, which allows the Nazis to later pass the Enabling Act and establish a dictatorship.

@darknetjr Good. It's nice to be able to move to another city but take friends and acquaintances along :)

Snow of Damocles hanging from our roof.

It slides slowly off since we got a steel roof.

When I am a dictator, it will be the law that any company which has a call-holding announcement of "we are experiencing a higher number of calls than usual" must publish ongoing and historic figures justifying this statement, and explaining what they intend to do about it.
