Yes, Mayor Adams in NYC has abandoned an effort to create real Internet access choices in favor of throwing money at the existing cable monopolies to provide an inferior service that people could have already got for free via the Affordable Connectivity Program.

The decision leaves local ISPs in the lurch and reminds us why many ISPs are nervous about partnering with local governments.

Much like trying to change somebody you are in a romantic relationship with who is being toxic and abusive, you will never be able to change a toxic or abusive work culture at your employer. Becoming a manager will not enable you to do it, unless you are the child of the CEO and inheriting the entire company. Being promoted will not change it. You working harder will not change it. A toxic culture is a toxic culture. Stop trying to be a hero.
