Update: I was informed by an engineer that no one wants that, and it’s not possible on Mastodon anyway.

I fired the engineer an email praising them for their honesty and integrity, and they’ll be getting a bonus next week.

Alfred Eisenstaedt captured this 1932 picture of an ice-skating waiter, Rene Brequet, at the rink of the Grand Hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Brequet skated around the rink with a tray of cocktails serving patrons at the Grand Hotel.The skating waiters were a popular attaction.

"I did one smashing picture", Eisenstaedt wrote, "of the skating headwaiter. To be sure the picture was sharp, I put a chair on the ice and asked the waiter to skate by it."

Excited to introduce the #Rstats package rang (developed by @chainsawriot and me). The pkg helps to reconstruct historical R environments to make old code run again (ie make it reproducible!). So far, it supports all code back to R 2.1.0 (2005!)

The package is an Rchaeological tool to ensure reproducibility retrospectively. You can also use rang to make your current projects future proof, but pkgs like renv or groundhog are better suited for this task.

Wielu ogrodników i ogrodniczek potrzebuje narzędzia informatycznego (chociaż arkusza kalkulacyjnego) do dokładnego zaplanowania upraw: ilości nasion, wielkości areału, terminów siania, sadzenia i zbiorów itd. Istnieje trochę tego typu narzędzi, ale nie polskich - co znacznie ogranicza ich przydatność w naszych warunkach (ze względu na np. specyfikę polskiego klimatu). Dlatego grupa inicjatywna zabrała się za planowanie takiego narzędzie dla polskich ogrodników. Uwaga! Ma ono mieć otwarte źródło! 💚 #openSource
