@freemo One other thing: I can't follow my account here from an account on a different instance. My follows here are open. When trying to follow from another instance, I see that my follow is awaiting approval. When I check follow requests here (which I needn't to) I don't see the request.
"The drinking water used in data centers is often treated with chemicals to prevent corrosion and bacterial growth, rendering it unsuitable for human consumption or agricultural use. This means that not only are data centers consuming large quantities of drinking water, but they are also effectively removing it from the local water cycle."

Odwożę syna na działkę do kumpla. Wieś, domki porozrzucane bez ładu i składu, brak numeracji.
Ja: zadzwoń do niego, niech powie gdzie to dokładnie jest
Syn: napisałem na discordzie, czekam
J: może niech wyjdzie przed dom, zobaczymy go
S: wysłał mi dokładne koordynaty
...
w końcu wysadziłem go gdzieś w polu
@freemo Hi,
Can you help me with understanding some of the issues I have?
A lot of posts from people I follow on other instances don't make their way here.
Often when someone reposts an excerpt from a thread on another instance I can't see the whole thread. I have to read the read in a new tab, on another instance's page.
I just learned that some people who follow me see only some of my posts.
When I see an interesting post on another instance, I often can't boost it from here – pasting the URL into the search box gives a 500 error or a "can't search toots" message.
It turns out I'm missing many interactions, some of them important enough to worry about this.
I have workarounds for some of those issues, but it needn't be like this:
It's quite funny that in the midst of the crowdstrike thing yesterday, someone tweeted - afaict as a shitpost - that southwest were unaffected due to running windows 3.1. Then digitaltrends published that claim using the tweet as a source, and are now being quoted themselves as a source.
AFAICT, it's entirely bollocks. Same with the claim they still run Windows 95, that's from the same lazy digitaltrends article, misquoting another misquote from 2 years ago.
@edavies @neil @revk Wales got rid of them in part because the cost of the paperwork and the cost caused by serious medical events from people who didn't take their meds due to the cost vastly exceeded the revenue the fees contributed.
The paperwork side only shrinks though - you still have to manage stocks, fund pharmacies and all the rest of it.
However when it costs many thousands a time just to deal with an emergency asthma admission caused by "can't afford inhaler" it pays pretty fast.

Can't simply boost from my instance, but this post on AI source data quality is important https://circumstances.run/@davidgerard/112814393953471895
oh boy
AI is useless shit. it's essentially the same as crypto: hype but the substance is less genuine tech advance and more a certain class of tech bro buying in on ethusiasm, the only difference being the mark for the con job is FAANG rather than sad randos playing a casino
AI is going the way of 3D TV
