@maltimore Same here. I had to restart the syncthing daemon regularly. I just use Nextcloud now.
@Parienve @valleyforge I had to see what an all-electric generator looked like. Found this: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jenniferhicks/2021/01/27/this-startup-wants-to-make-zero-emissions-portable-power-a-thing/?sh=bab974576d45
It's basically a portable battery bank. I guess it could get you through rolling blackouts if sized appropriately, but it wouldn't help much in an extended outage.
@maltimore Not sure if this will solve your problem, but you can run Emacs in batch mode to do org-mode exports

Incorporating ladders into today's workout routine:
- 3x(1,2,3) KB clean & press
- 3x(1,2,3) KB one-arm row
- 3x(1,2,3) KB snatch
- 1x(1,2,3) KB clean-to-lunge
- 1x10 curtsy lunge
- 3x(2,4,6) dips on rings
@trinsec It's confusing. The BSA now allows girls (since 2019), but I think coed troops are not yet widespread.
I'm honestly happy that the troop we found is all-male. My son could use more masculine influence in his life.
@arjen I didn't know commands beginning with space didn't go in your history.
C-r to search through the command history is so useful.
@trinsec I love midnight commander.
BTW, this technique is applicable to other situations too. Like with SQL queries, SELECT before UPDATE.
Abhorrent opinions
@khm Cringeworthy, but I respect him for publishing his honest opinion, even though it is so unpopular.
@djoerd I'm surprised to see this article published on Nature.com instead of a pirate news site. Maybe the tide is beginnig to change. 🤞
For today's #homeschool computer class, we put some of our #Linux command line knowledge to use by organizing our ~/Downloads directory.
Normally, we use Midnight Commander to manage files, but today we used ls, cd, mv, and rm to move around and manipulate files.
To examine files, we used feh, unzip, file, less, and locate.
We learned a technique for safely using the rm command with wildcards. First issue the ls command with the wildcards, examine the output, and if it looks okay, visit the previous command in your history (up arrow or C-p) and replace "ls" with "rm".
We also did a little experimenting with the animate (ImageMagick) command to view animated .gif files.
Today's exercises:
- Dynamic stretches
- 6x Uphill sprints
- 3x KB clean & press
- 3x KB snatch
- 3x KB swings

@barefootstache This book looks very interesting. Thanks for the recommendation. I will check it out.
@barefootstache You're right, it is expensive. That was the hardest thing for me to come to grips with when moving away from eating grains.
It should be possible for you to source local meat raised to a higher ethical standard (antibiotic-free) if you're willing to pay for it.
We raise some of our own meat. Plus, I'm an avid hunter, which helps a lot.
@barefootstache Regarding the gene test, I submitted a basic 23andme saliva test, downloaded the data, and submitted it to Promethease for analysis. There were quite a few interesting results. I recommend it.
@barefootstache That is true with regards to fat and carbs, but there is a minimum amount of protein that each person should consume daily, depending on a number of factors. When I started paying attention to my protein consumption, I felt like my health really improved (I had been underconsuming).
I'm a big fan of Mark Sisson's books. He reads a ton of research, ties it all together, and cites all his sources. He even reads the research with contrary viewpoints and cites it all on his blog.
@barefootstache That is a really good idea. I will have to think about how I can incorporate some of that.
@khm Yikes. That's really bad news. I wonder what will become of ungoogled-chromium and the like.
@khm Can you provide a source for this? I looked and this is what I found: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=896897&desc=2#c23
The last comment says there's still a lot to be worked out with the design.
