> What you don't seem to understand is that humans are not perfectly rational and that beliefs have consequences.

Humans being perfectly rational and beliefs not having consequences are not preconditions. Nothing he said relies on those being true.

> If someone makes a more convincing argument for something against my values it doesn't matter how good their argument is, they shouldn't be able to speak.

This is probably the dumbest shit I've read all day, and I have already heard a self-identified pedophile bitch and moan about "artistic nude photography".

Try and stop me from saying what I want to say.

@Sage @Wehrmacht @p if someone makes a more convincing argument, you should consider the possibility that you are wrong. If you have considered, and believe you are still right, you should be able to articulate why in an *even more* convincing argument. If you cannot, you're not acting on reason; you're acting on faith.

@doliu666 I love the very well thought out poll options. Polls with false dichotomies are so annoying.

idk. Its quite minimalistic. OpenBoard was just an example. I personally use the Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard, because it's at least not Google whilst being as good as Gboard.

Reminder of something hardly mentioned but very important.

Check what keyboard app you're using on your phone. There's no point in using a secure messaging app if all your texts are written on Gboard.

Biden should nationalize whichever social network Trump ends up on. "In the interest of national security, we're taking over your company." That would trigger some great takes.

BTW, today we released #PeerTube v3, complete with p2p live streaming features and a behind-the-scene short film.

Read more about it on our blog (and please share 😉) framablog.org/2021/01/07/peert

If it's a fake false flag staged coverup psyop, it wraps around to being real.

So my fear came true. My mother has tested positive yesterday.

I'm not doing so good at all.

Interesting.

Btw, do you have any quarrels or nits to pick with the current "Fediverse" Wiktionary entry?

en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Fediver

@zleap @category_mirrory @mray

@freemo This was pretty much my programming language comming-of-age story, and why I chose Go (other than it had the keyword "chan").

@zleap @category_mirrory @mray
Hi, I'm the author of the two blog posts about the Fediverse.

I used email as solely an analogy. I didn't consider it to be part of the Fediverse. Email is *a* federated network indeed, but I always assumed and considered the Fediverse to be synonymous with *the* federated network built upon ActivityPub.

There seems to be an issue of etymology with "Fediverse". I've seen lots of opinions, retronyms, back-formations, redefinition, etc.

I took a small stand and authored the Wiktionary entry for "Fediverse":

en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Fediver

As mentioned there, I've also come across "the federation" and "the free network". I wrote what seemed the most sensible and exclusive definition (otherwise, why define a new word to not to be more specific in our speech?).

There are perhaps others who are more qualified to define those terms. The Internet is older than me. @cwebber@octodon.social ActivityPub co-edittor perhaps?

@mray
I always just assumed the Fediverse referred to networks using the ActivityPub protocol.

So that's what it's called! I love it.
