I've been working on a cool little app for a month or two now, and it's finally ready for an initial release. Check it out here: vlojure.io

Basically, it's a visual interface for writing an evaluating ClojureScript.

RT @markm208
I cover syntax basics, data structures, closures, tail recursion, lazy sequences, and concurrency.

One of the easiest way to get started in is to use replit.com (no complicated Clojure install required).

HEEELP! I'm working in elisp and miss my data orientation. What is the right way to simplify this thing?

markm208.github.io/cljbook/ is a very cool demonstration of getting started with , using a medium I have not seen before to play the typing for you. If you are even a little curious about getting started, play with it! Thanks, @markm208 !

A very excellent getting-started resource!

Someone recently suggested that beginners spend a year "grinding every day" to master the language. Putting in the time is critical, but I don't think are ever a grind. They are too fun for that!

He's got a point. Why? Because you are mastering the language core library, the ecosystem, and the community/idioms.

My only correction? Learn first. It will provides a mighty environment for learning all those others with true REPL and best practices.

Pick a programming language: JavaScript, Python, Solidity.

Learn it.

Grind every single day for 1 year.

You won't believe how much you'll be able to chang…

Good tip. And before jumping in to , complete at least 5 more in .

This is the curse and the blessing of the philosophy -- know a little of your hosts first, but then reap the benefits

Are you an aspiring front-end developer?

This tip is for you!

Before Jumping into Javascript, try to complete at least 5 Projects using plain HTML and CSS.

The community is largely single-line promotionals (mostly about the glories of ) and threads of handy gee-whiz info. So, in proper fashion, I've decided to use that community as Host and do all those same things, but . Join us in the fun!

I guess the slick truth model usually sidesteps this:

(let [home (or address "no address")]
home)

and I like having some-> for safe interop:

Javascript has a cool feature called Nullish coalescing. A logical operator that returns the value of the right side if it is null or undefined.

const home= address ?? "No address"

If address is Null, it returns the right side. I really like the way t…

One of my favorite nice things about is that it supports the whole spectrum from goofy prototypes to industrial strength boring apps, while staying fun all the time! bonus on top: there's money in it, too. But fun is what makes the difference!

it's a matter of curiosity that I rarely go to SO for stuff. I guess it's a testament to functional programming that core documentation covers almost every need, and visiting lib repos takes care of everything else.

Has anyone else noticed this?

The Twitter Webdev community is largely preoccupied with single-line promotional texts (largely about the glories of ) and threads of gee-whiz info that I actually find quite useful sometimes. So, in proper fashion, I've decided to use that community as Host and do all those same things, but Clojure[Script]. Feel free to join me!

Have you seen this, @DanBell ? This looks like the kind of mental-shift that you and I have appreciated on things before. Even if it isn't quite "put a repl in it"

You don't need a web framework, you need a web language. In this blog post we explain hyperfiddle/photon – a reactive /Script dialect, specialized for server-streamed user interfaces.

Photon-dom fns return a stream of UI/dom events to transduce and "return up the stack" for the entrypoint to map to whatever database effect. But don't miss our hypermedia abstraction which implements 's elegant EAVT information model in an amazing composable way twitter.com/helmehalawi/status

I think I may need to start putting more time into learning the interop ecosystems: Maven, Apache on the JVM, and React stuff, NPM on . Then, soon, Python, too -python. Probably an hour of reading each day.

Analysis paralysis when trying to learn backend? Try to buy a printer to realize it could be worse. 😂
