So, the fine humans at @lambdaisland have smoothed the way to having the full REPL experience in !

What a fun way to learn some Clojure, or, put your Clojure skills to use in a creative way!

@stopachka It became increasingly easy to embed Clojure in the middle of a JS app, so I propose clojure.core + clj->js + js->cls + Shadow-Cljs as an exoctic, yet rightful alternative.

@riaan_dp What if we train them, and they leave?

What if we don’t, and they stay?

And here are some great insider insights into why the Python choice was made, though I'd still like to "what if" compare with @draganrocks @uncomplicateorg implementation. Would performance and better syntax be enough to justify the alternative?

Of course, mentioning BLAS makes me automatically think of @draganrocks and doing Tensorflow in Neanderthal... Worth implementing stuff in or too much critical mass with Python?

RT @PjdPeter
@TaliaRinger There are only a few options if you want (a) to use BLAS libraries and (b) for it to be useable by a broad audience.
MATLAB has already proven that having a truly heinous language for gluing your numeric computations together…

dev 1: "you can't just go around refactoring code that already works! just cus you don't understand it after a couple mins?! it's complex and you need to take the extra time you need to figure it out"

dev 2: "yea that's literally the motivation for us to refactor it"

@Endless_WebDev I like it as one school of thought. CLOS to me is very functional: classes are "just" data and methods are "just" functions that can dispatch on types. Methods can be used as high-order functions, etc.

But CLOS can be complicated and achieving performance is difficult.

@stevekinney Microfrontends are a conspiracy created by npm corp. to sell more node_modules!!1

Microfrontends: Because web development wasn’t hard enough already.

Developer stances I just don't understand:

- Don't care about open source
- Don't care about tech ethics
- Don't actually enjoy coding
- Don't think about privacy
- Don't love to learn
- Can easily turn-off "work" problem solving and interests after hours

There are some contingencies and some contradictions in there, and possibly a red flag, but that's what is in my head.

What sold me on :

1) Functional programming
2) Lisp (REPL, macros, regular syntax)
3) Can use it for work (tap into existing ecosystem)

I was already sold at that point, but then came:

4) On backend and frontend
5) And scripting
