Don't forget the total lunar eclipse tonight (very early morning on the other side of the Atlantic)

@heavensfeel I think you're kidding... but I've got some hope for cryptocurrency if it can be backed by actual value. iirc, cryptocurrency is mined by solving a useless but expensive-to-solve problem: it would be great if you got a coin by proving you have some actual goods or services... like a kind of technologically enhanced barter system. like, governments pay you in IOUs for government services that you can trade for other services. the currency system then becomes a system for addressing and assessing value for an exchange plus a system for retiring tokens of value (e.g., if you exchange government-service-tokens for actual government services)
I've thought about this for literally all of 8 minutes, so it's probably a dumb unworkable idea
New #DrWho actor announced: https://www.prfl.net/2022/05/sex-education-star-shuti-gatwa-will-be.html?m=1
should be interesting. Gatwa's character in Sex Education was very energetic: curious whether he'll bring the same kind of energy to this role. At least we know he'll be a Doctor with style 😄
I wish I had the cajones to say things like, "#crypto has won". that's a level of confidence about the future I've never been able to muster. I barely have a grasp on the present in a global sense
@lupyuen disappointing that they can't even get straight the name of the deceased. also, there are obvious ways to prevent objectionable content from going to children through content filtering and age verification

@readsteven well, hey -- you gotta have dreams
when you overexpose night photos and you have a lot of moon light and no artificial light you get pictures which look like they are taken on a sunny day - just with stars.

#FollowFriday recs! ⬇️
@asrivkin - a #DART mission investigation team lead. Meaning Andy loves #asteroids, and also loves throwing spacecraft at asteroids
@sundogplanets - an astronomer + a goat farmer. Sam studies debris disks (kinda like the Kuiper belt in the Solar System) and talks about the problems with #Starlink
@xxyxxyart - Joel is an artist who makes little clay astronauts, aliens, dinosaurs, and more. I can personally attest to the quality of his creations (of which I have several!)
And if you want to know more about this #DARTMission that @_astronoMay mentioned, here’s a quick 2-minute promo NASA released about it a few months before last fall’s launch! https://youtu.be/g7zdeQ-Uw8k
@MissInformation I'll be that guy: this meme is backwards since he has perfect vision in this scene, so the glasses would make the picture blurry

@lauraritchie historically, I've always had to draw out the curves myself in Inkscape or whatever
A capable software engineer and aspirating (sic) cook. Also posting about space stuff (mostly NASA) occasionally
