haven't seen much of the birds themselves these last few days, but I do see some dry grass and feathers below the nest indicating they've been tending to it.

I just migrated from mastodon.lol so let me introduce myself again:
I am a South American biologist, #rstats programmer, and member of several communities of practice in open and responsible research. I am currently a postdoc at UFABC in Brazil, working on the resilience of Brazilian Atlantic Forest ecosystems to climate change.

@Pat thanks. my worry is that the tectorial membrane would be in the way and you couldn't remove it without changing the dynamics. besides, the organ of Corti is mobile so getting a stable view of the surface (like, with the image plane parallel to a section of the basal lamina) seems basically impossible
I'd like to run 3D fluid dynamics simulations and visualizations with open source software. On the order of 1k x 1k x 1k cells, preferably GPU accelerated and preferably not nvidia-proprietary.
What systems should I be reading about to learn how to do this (and to figure out what my next questions should be)?
Any finished examples out there?
