Interesting project:
inclusivestem.org/

It looks pretty small-scale at this point, but they have some videos that get into sort-of the nuts and bolts of how, for instance, you can correctly input mathematical formulas (e.g., for homework or research papers) more efficiently without vision to help you. It's slow work, but it's the kind of thing that genuinely enables education and growth.

This is pretty frickin' cool. I've been passively interested in the capabilities of arrays of antennas, and I hadn't heard of this project before.

rant, non-specific politics

It really irks me when apologists (lately for politicians) engage in "whataboutism". Like, "So yeah, he ordered a few thousand dissidents to work camps, but what about when he built that railroad? Fosters commerce, sharing of culture..." Just because you did some good things, it doesn't mean you didn't also do bad things or that the bad things should be excused. It's so frustrating as a rhetorical tool (like, think butter knife in open-heart surgery) because there's pretense of being "balanced" and "fair-minded" when the speaker really means you should write-off the bad. Zero it out. Focus on that positive.
It's the same kind of slow-witted skulduggery as in "letting the past be the past" when the consequences of what happened "in the past" *are still actively causing problems*. Like, "So yeah, he burned some forests--" the forests have been burned! They're gone. They're *still* gone.

@2ck You want silly made up German sounding stuff? Here's a famous one:

ACHTUNG!
ALLES TURISTEN UND NONTEKNISCHEN LOOKENSPEEPERS!
DAS KOMPUTERMASCHINE IST NICHT FรœR DER GEFINGERPOKEN UND MITTENGRABEN! ODERWISE IST EASY TO SCHNAPPEN DER SPRINGENWERK, BLOWENFUSEN UND POPPENCORKEN MIT SPITZENSPARKEN.
IST NICHT FรœR GEWERKEN BEI DUMMKOPFEN. DER RUBBERNECKEN SIGHTSEEREN KEEPEN DAS COTTONPICKEN Hร„NDER IN DAS POCKETS MUSS.
ZO RELAXEN UND WATSCHEN DER BLINKENLICHTEN.

Does "Verfassungsschutz" sound as silly to a speaker as it does to this English one? Because it sounds like a word I would make up to sound German.

why would i want to play minesweeper on a smartphone? that sounds like hell

My current concern:

People that used to be on Parler are now moving to Signal (and alternatives) for secure chat.

-Signal uses AWS for their infrastructure.

-Signal can not censor or moderate content.

Does it mean it runs the risk of getting booted as well? If not, why not?

If we are ok with the
@awscloud
decision .. what would be the feeling if an ISP decided to block services and platforms because it didn't conform with their terms?

Both Facebook and Twitter
have plenty of bad content... and they've been used to "incite" violence

And how would you feel if that ISP was the only one in your area? In other words, you can only use that ISP.

And what if it was your mobile provider did the same?

The Expanse > {every other space sci-fi series}

i think everyone need to earn way more money across the board for what they do. everyone at the top is ripping the world off.

i also think the system is pretty rigged, though, and gains being made are going to fail to show the results people need.
