I am now compiling a list of all servers who may have an interest in joining the United Federation of Instances.
Quite a few instances have already signed up.
Please reach out to me, all servers of any size are welcome!
This is non binding, its just to get a preliminary list. You can withdrawl at any time and dont have to go through the application process. I just want to know what servers to reach out to once we begin kicking things off.
If you are a server admin please let me know **in DM** if you have an interest and I will add you to the (for now) private list. I want to only release the list once we have enough momentum so please respond in DM only.
for those who are new to this you can read the proposal here:
https://ufoi.gitlab.io/constitution/united_federation_of_instances_proposal.pdf
You can read the early draft of the full bylaws here:
https://ufoi.gitlab.io/constitution/united_federation_of_instances_bylaws.pdf
Both of these will still undergo a lot of modification. For information on how to join the conversation see this post:

You can see the progress and conversation specifically at the official repo here:

Thank you for doing that! I looked on the about page, but didn't see any place where I can kick in some cash to help keep the lights on. Do you have anything set up to accept donations?
Friends, hear me now.
If at any point in your online discourse, you find yourself about to write "according to science," or "statistically speaking," or Archimedes help me, "scientists now believe" ...
Stop.
Choose another phrase. Language is versatile. You can do the thing. I believe in you. Super great.
Please. I'm begging here.

I think that when I follow somebody, they are automatically added to my home feed. But once they are followed, I can add them to a list and remove them from my home feed by clicking the plus next to the list I want to add them to, and then clicking the minus on the home feed list. I'm pretty sure that I did that it using the desktop web interface.
I find that using the web interface to set up most of my follows and lists works well. I haven't done a lot of that using my mobile client, though, but I haven't really tried much of it since I switched to a paid app. I should probably explore that a bit more.
@7sleepersmusic
I once asked a co-worker if he was from Missouri, or Flint. I honestly did not know, but I did know that many people I have met from Flint have a Missouri accent due to that migration you're referring to. (It turns out that he is from Flint, and also a really good bass player. We bonded over that conversation. 🙂)
"There is some evidence suggesting that our physical reality could be a simulated virtual reality rather than an objective world that exists independently of the observer."
For instance, there are fundamental smallest units of matter and energy (like pixels).
Now a physicist has proposed testable hypotheses.

NGC 6326 is a beautiful planetary nebula captured in this image by the Hubble Space Telescope, it is located in the direction of the Constellation of Ara and is located at a distance of about 11,000 light years from Earth. The gas wisps are illuminated by a central star nearing the end of its life. As a star ages and the red giant phase comes to an end, it begins to eject layers of gas from its.....

Saturn's moon Titan as seen by the JWST. Wow.
My best image of it as a comparison 😉

@markcooper You might like "The Path to Nibbana" if you haven't already read it. I found it helpful in my practice.
I don't know that Yates / Culadasa went off the rails. Sounds like he was just human, but I don't have a strong opinion about him either way. The author of the original TWIM book seems a bit odd as well, but I think that he really understands his practice, and is good at sharing his understanding.
@patioboater
Mastodon has lists. You might just need to use the web page as a mobile client, or buy Fedilab, to see them on mobile.
Everyone's posting pics of their #cats so I'm posting a #photo of my cormorant. Well it's not mine but I took the pic. By the way did I tell you I like #birdphotography. 🙂
@skrishna
I am an engineer. We do that to each other, too.
Joking aside, unconscious bias is very real. It was good for you to shine some light on it.

The light effects of sunrise and sunset in this mountain-rimmed valley definitely deserve a more skilled photographer than I will ever be. Even when I can manage to get something representative of one section, the pics do nothing to capture the ethereal effect of the light all the way around the horizon. To see the western mountains--and everything in between--glow in the red-gold of sunrise...it's something I never even knew existed before this year.

Here is my introduction post:
Instead of defining myself by saying “I am a…”, here’s a collection of hashtags that interest me (in no particular order). #meditation (specifically #twim right now) #cigars #bicycling #photography #computerscience #physics #guitar #music .
I live in #Michigan (in #LakeOrion, which is 35+ miles north of #Detroit), and spend a lot of time around #RogersCity (I’ll bet that’s the first time that hashtag has been used on Mastodon). My kids are really bright and sometimes struggle with #ADHD, so I’ll probably talk about that at times as well. I have spent more than 3 decades of my life as a #programmer, and now I get to be the old man who leads really smart people in solving big problems with small amounts of #software.
