My research involves quantifying trace, toxic, particulate matter with neutron activation analysis. This is the neutron generator I use to irradiate air sampled filters, which are then analyzed by gamma spectroscopy.

Deuterium gas feeds into the magnetron on the left, which is ionized into plasma. The plasma strikes a deuterium film target in the chamber on the right, producing helium and a neutron beam. Aluminum then moderates the beam to thermal energy.

Today I’ll mostly be testing the behaviour of Aruba 7240 mobility controllers when enabling control plane security for our production system. Happy Monday whatever you’re doing.

@absolutus at this stage I am not sure. I would prefer to take things one step at a time.

I am a 76 year old pensioner living in southern Turkey. I have tried to get the hang of the language here but learned very little. I was born and bred in England where I spent most of my life up until I retired twelve years ago.
My persuits in life were many and varied including motorcycling fishing (sea and stream) shooting (shotgun and air rifle) and sightseeing by car.
My experience in IT, which seems to be quite popular in here was as a user only but I put it to its best use.
Anyone wishing to be bored further need only ask.

I have been a member here now for a whole day, first impressions..... I like it. I am a member of other forums and I have to say, I don't remember the response I have had in here on any other forum in such a short time, thank you all for the warm welcome.
I am still in learning mode but I am learning fast. I am looking forword becoming a fully fledged TOOTer.

@freemo Skeptics are alright to me, they are usually just not well informed, at least the ones I met. Even they'll admit the importance of having a healthy ecosystem thriving with life and providing us water, air and food anyway.

@PJanuszka This had me to sigh a bit... I really miss the times where most discussions were happening on forums.

I still think is likely the best discussion tool we have.

Anyway, I'm glad you are liking it here!

@StevenDBT @absolutus questions usually generate answers, here's hoping.
After moving here I became a citizen which gave me entitlement to all manner of things including full health care. I have been fortunate healthwise up to age 70. I had the most amazing birthday party at the local marina which was attended by most of my remaining friends from England. The tide turned against me and I was diagnosed with bladder cancer, cured by sugery in Istanbul. The follow up tests revealed the presence of prostate cancer again cured here by radio therapy. My eyesight was becoming less than perfect, cured here by removing my cateracts. What more could go wrong..... well on New Years day I had a heart attack. This require major open heart surgery. All fixed now I'm pleased to say. As a result of all the aforementioned I get regular checkups, so hopefully if anything else goes wrong it should get sorted in time.
Sorry to lay all this on you Steven but afte 60 you have to expect the worst but we're brave eh.

I see this looks a bit like Twitter so I am still trying to get the hang of it. But I am sure I will get used to it. Glad to be here.

New to this Toot thing. I'm a Bald African Unicorn. I dip my bread in tea. I sleep talk. The internet is my home and I'm perpetually under house arrest. I'm a Convivial human and a Sentient being. I once dated Jessica Alba but she probably doesn't recall. Oh I also love the rain.

Hi everybody! (hi dr nick) here to try something new. For a living I help run a university campus network, with a focus on WiFi. For fun it's walking, photography, drums and live sound. Based in the north of England / Northern Ireland, I'm interested in politics and utterly fed up with politicians. I'm a faltering follower of Christ but can't call myself Christian. Always happy to engage/argue/discuss with those I don't agree with in a respectful manner.
Cheers all

@dickiegreenleaf is so handsome and good at shitposting that it's the first time i've ever had to reconcile how the rest of the world must view me.

i need to have a seat and think long and hard... about how to remove this information from my brain because it's like a meta-cognitive ice cream headache.

anyway, he's very funny.

One reason I appreciate Qoto.org is the effort to give opposing opinions a fair and equal voice.

We all tend to retreat into our preferred silos. Conservatives hang out with other conservatives. Liberals prefer the company of other liberals.

If perhaps you're in the latter category and have never had the opportunity to see how conservative people think about things, I'd encourage you to check out some of 's 5-minute videos. They're well done and quite insightful: prageru.com/5-minute-videos
