The ban-TikTok movement in America was torpedoed last night by a federal judge in Montana who said the law that had become a model for Republican-led states "violates the Constitution in more ways than one" https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/11/30/tiktok-ban-montana-blocked/
"[Musk] thinks he can Thanos Snap wars and recessions into being merely by posting a recycled Pepe the Frog meme from 2016 on there. There is no reasoning with someone who is so megalomaniacal and so, SO stupid."

You know one thing that #ChatGPT is going to be *huge* for?
Background dialog in video games.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to write dialog for guards and civilians in open world games? If you've ever taken an arrow to the knee, then you might have some sense of it.
But #AI can blow that out of the water, generating dozens of dialogue variations that say the same thing (or nothing at all) just a little bit differently for each voice actor, adding easy variety to a notoriously tedious and shitty writing job in #GameDev.
Of course, eventually it'll probably replace the voice actors too, which is far less ideal.
Musk's right-wing extremism accelerates, and so does his active amplification of other extremists. Remember, these are people who want to end democracy and, by extension, freedom of expression (for anyone who isn't one of them).
Journalists, meanwhile, continue to directly support him by pouring their work into his malignant platform.
Will they ever stop helping their enemies?
(Needless to say, that's a rhetorical question...)

Because some people only know how to destroy 🤦♂️
One of the most important skills in modern life that most people don't talk about is the skill of choosing for whom you apportion your mental and emotional energy.
Is it sad that a relative of a random person you know on the internet just got cancer? Sure. Should you invest emotions into it? Absolutely not.
If you allow your emotions to be guided by anything you read on the internet, you'll be a mess (we all know the type).
But if you go too far the other way, you become callous and cruel to those outside your immediate circle.
Finding the balance is difficult, and we should talk about it more.
36 years ago today was the Max Headroom TV STL hijacking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Headroom_signal_hijacking
I regard this incident as the best and purest hacking prank in modern history. The combination of sophisticated, meticulous technical planning and execution, utterly juvenile content, essential harmlessness, lack of financial motive, and never getting caught or identified (or later taking credit) remains, in my opinion, unmatched to this day.
Pure art.
Look, AI/ML is great at a lot of stuff.
But this. Is not. One of them.
