A rupture in a container used for the process of uranium enrichment has killed one person in Russia. "There is no danger of any kind for residents of the city of Novouralsk or the staff of the plant...there is no danger of any kind," said a plant manager.

Imagine living life peacefully in your home in a European capital city, and then waking up in the middle of the night to an explosion, shattering glass and the horns of car alarms. @freemo @tatzelbrumm The admin roles I take on, such as running game servers, is purely a matter of self-defense. I hate working for detailed arse holes that demand my focus every waking minute and to do the work free... And yet that's who I work for... me. It sucks. I don't like it.
1) My role is the STEM amateur enthusiast, not even a student, nevermind in the professional line. If I were starting fresh, I would gravitate towards that.
2) My enthusiasm for changing to a "sibling server" ranks up there with my interest in changing my email address. Again. Which is to say, "not very," and for the same reasons. I'm not clear I can alter my handle on the Birdsite without losing any means to have my fediverse address in there at all.
3) My wife and the very few friends that started accounts on qoto do not appear to be using this much if at all. "Moving" would for them would sound an awful lot like, "forget you bothered with Mastodon."
4) I'm highly confident any ties between you and any other server will bring on the Ultra Self-Righteous crowd that got qoto on the naughty list, and a new site would be on that list faster than word could get out the site exists.

Of all the good things my mother taught me growing up there is one that I think is the best she has instilled in me:
Always offer anyone who needs it food and water... in fact, when you can try and actively find people who need a meal and dont just feed them, but sit with them and be a friend to them if they want when you feed them.
Probably the single biggest thing you can do to change the world with very little money.

Why does america have the right to bear arms but not the right to the arms of other animals?
@freemo I firmly believe in the right to arm bears. And, naturally, any other such wildlife that is unfairly hunted.

That one right there gets me way the hell pissed off.
It's pretty horrible when you agree with people in principle, but they are are unprincipled liars exaggerating or making up "facts" whole-cloth, and in doing ruining any positive vibes you'd have interacting with them. "Uhm... dudes, you are right, but you DO NOT have to *LIE* about it, do you?"
@freemo I'm pretty confident he's a horrible human being. I'm concerned about the law being implemented in such a way as to prevent "those people" (minorities, LGBTQ+, Democrats) from being able to exercise this right.
