These two maps are a good example how data visualization influences our perception. Same election, same results, but one shows the winning party by area, one by population density. (Map Credits: Karim Douïeb, Jetpack.ai)

@peterwhisker I found it! Thanks so much! Been here a week. Learning tons!!!

Earlier this year, I released Technology in Schools: Its Not Like this in Business under CC-BY-NC.

"My purpose in writing this book is to give readers a view into the work of managing information technology in schools. IT professionals will notice differences (some nuanced and some significant) between the needs and expectations of IT users in business and IT in school."

You can find an .odt and .pdf versions on my web site:

Hello. I've looked at a couple of servers and finally settled here. What is particularly excellent and unique is the ability to follow another domain of interest and get its whole public timeline on your Home page or in a list. So I can easily keep an eye on what's happening on other servers. Everyone needs Domain Subscription!

@peterwhisker Oh wow! How does one follow a whole domain? Would appreciate a link to instructions if you have time. Thanks! :-)

Great tips here for those ! I've only been here a week myself.

Okay this might be a long post :blob_grinning_sweat: One thing that I realised is making #twittermigration harder for people to switch is because t...

I am going to try to find time this weekend to add in several new features to QOTO, fix a few small bugs, and if we aare REALLY lucky and things go well I might release a new version of QOTO this weekend (no promises though my life is CRAZY right now, hard to predict).

A reminder to all the folks coming over from #Twitter. A favorite here is basically telling the poster you liked what they said. But since there is not an algorithm feeding you content based on what you favorite, that's all they do. They just "bla-doop" in the poster's notifications. If you want to get that post out to other people, you have to boost it. Then everyone who follows you will see it too.

(Give it a try on this post if you like)

Let’s try this again. Where you at #fediverse? Boosts welcome so we can get the best sample size.

@EduCrave I don't think you need to worry. I'm new here too but post mostly about and . I picked this server because the STEM theme was closest to what I was posting about. No one has said anything negative. As long as you abide by the server terms of use, I think you're all good. 😃

@suziwalks @dougholton I love John Spencer. He talks more about WHAT to do with tech than tech itself. His book EMPOWER is a favorite. spencerauthor.com/my-books/

@dougholton I'm trying to learn about #edtech but don't know where to start...any great books/articles/people?

🔓Secondary school teachers' use of online formative assessment during COVID

"The unique COVID-19 context made teachers rethink their teaching and assessment practices and helped them to also think more critically in why and what to assess. In some schools this even fuelled a discussion on their educational and assessment vision, discussing the balance between summative and FA, as well as on a future blended FA practice"

More women have voted than men in every presidential election since 1964 & in recent years there are about 10M more registered women than men. Yet they are discussed as a political footnote instead of the majority that they are.
