Oh man, big day!

On top of that I got called in for an interview to be an adjunct professor of Cyber at my local community college.
Teaching and giving back to the cyber community has been one of the most rewarding things for me and I can’t wait for an opportunity to do more!

Most of the stuff I learned about Mastodon, I learned from folks retweeting "helpful tips" for new folks. Just trying to pay it forward to some degree if someone replies to a post of mine with good advice on how to make Mastodon work for you.

It's hard when you dunno and while Mastodon isn't HARD to use; it's different than Twitter and that makes ppl leery. Just trying to help a bit; randomly and apace.

Macstodon is a Mastodon client for 68k Macintosh computers! With it, you can post plain-text toots, view your home and local timelines, and view your notifications!

System Requirements:
- A 68020/68030/68040 Macintosh
- System 7.1 through 8.1
- At least 1.5 MB of free memory
- 32-bit addressing enabled
- Internet Config installed
- an SSL-stripping proxy running on another machine

TIL that all currencies have an ISO assigned currency code. And some Arab states like Oman, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq and Libya use 3 decimals instead of 2.

During an IB economics exam today I gave students 2 minutes in the middle of the 80 min exam to get up and talk to their peers.

The mood lightened, positive energy was restored, and students later said that it helped.

Because students were writing long responses to questions, I doubt there is much need to worry about cheating.

On balance I would say “the juice was worth the squeeze”; the benefits outweighed the cost.

A few recommendations for life on Mastodon:

1) Follow anyone you think looks potentially interesting; you can always unfollow later, and they may lead you to new people via boosted posts.

2) Boost posts you think are worthy, so others can discover new content.

3) Don't obsess on replicating your Twitter follows on Mastodon; let it be its own experience, and grow it organically. Obvs follow anyone you miss from Twitter, but this isn't a 1:1 replacement; have fun, follow your instincts.
