Thanks to covid, then travel, then a biblical seeming 40 days and 40 nights of rain, haven't had much of a chance to ride the bike, but finally got out today and rode along the Bay (that's SF in the distance). Windy and a bit cold, but nice.

For me, that would be Star Man's Son, by Andre Norton (later retitled Daybreak - 2250 A.D.)
That was in about 1963. It made such a strong impression on me, that to this day I often use the name of the title character in gaming.
Of course, thereafter I read every Andre Norton book I could get my hands on, along with Heinlein, McCaffrey, Asimov, Bradley, Burroughs, etc.
