Make the net weird again. Hand write sites like it’s the 90s. Pick interesting domain names and make fan sites or random knowledge known to everyone. Don’t monetize anything. Spearhead new protocols like Gemini. Make mods for games on your site. Make FAQs for obscure games no one knows about. Make public software services available to anyone. Make a news site about a really random subject. Create music in all kinds of different formats. Most of all, do it because you want to!

Correct. Accessing the Qoto instance via browser gives you access to it's features as well as access to qoto's other services like video and audio hosting.
Hello Mastodon/Qoto hoping there will be some interesting conversations here and less meglomaniacs pretending they're the savior of humanity.
Been doing web development for almost 20 years, currently working with #Typescript / #Javascript, #MongoDB, #Neo4j, #Angular, and #NestJs.
I'm interested in #Philosophy, #Politics, #History, #Complexity, #Physics, and #ComputerScience.
I have thoughts on #collapse and our current moment, but I'm feeling gluttonous at almost 500 chars for my first toot.
Hello!
I'm the wizard behind https://ElectroMage.com - creator of the beloved Pixelblaze LED controller.
ElectroMage is a small business that designs fun LED products for people like you!
Pixelblaze is a WiFi LED controller that lets you live-code with instant feedback, a ton of tools to make patterns easier, and a platform for sharing patterns with the community.

I never did proper #introduction post in the 3 years since joining. I'm a nerd of all trades (and master of none), so I'll just pick some:
I like working with #embedded systems, and linking them across the Internet (which some call #IoT). As I want those to be efficient, interoperable and secure, I spend much time around the #CoAP stack of protocols -- both contributing to its specs at #IETF, and writing #FreeSoftware implementations in #RustLang, #Python and on @RIOT_OS (in C).
#introduction Insomnia helped me discover Mastodon tonight. I am enrolled in a JavaScript class, so I might post some things about it. I am interested in science, engineering, politics & jokes.

Fediverse tip we haven't seen a lot of: read people's profiles and pinned posts!
Like, first of all, this just tells you about people - if you see someone interesting, this lets you know roughly what they're about.
But second, a lot of people use fedi in a very private personal way? And they'll talk about their boundaries there. So digging into that helps you interact with them in a way that makes them comfortable.

One really early impression I have of working in #softwareEngineering is that it’s just important to be able to use the supporting tools as it is to know how to code.
The only side projects I did where a build system figured in before were when I was learning android and the modifications I made to the Gradle files was very minor.
As I said in my presentation, I have started learning music production for some months now.
The first track I have finished is "Dreams". I hope you like it!
Still working on other tracks, keep tuned ;)
Putting this on my reading list.
And yours, too, now.

Another video, of the intricate macrophage data set from OpenOrganelle.janelia.org:
Hey folks, I'm #newhere , so I guess it's time for an #introduction !
I write #cpp and #python software for data analysis in high-energy physics. I like performance-oriented #software design, I'm learning #rust and I play #ttrpg , currently running a couple of #dnd adventures.
So far I don't really feel like I'm building a good mastodon feed for myself, I guess it takes some work uh -- but at least here on #qoto I can follow other instances without resorting to multiple accounts, which is _so nice_. Thanks qoto admins!
Content Warnings are a kindness.
@derickflorian There is definitely a spectrum. My guideline is "when in doubt, use a CW."
What is the best way to use Jupyter notebooks and Github? The diffs in the comments are barely readable, and I recall being some wah to handle it properly. Could somebody help me here?
#dataviz #datascience #jupyter #git #github
I guess that I can explain a little bit what I do. I'm a PhD student at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. My main interests are Numerical Calculus and GPU computing. I also produce some music and am involved in game development.
I'd be glad to interact with you all!

A tip for those who haven't seen this yet. #Mastodon has its own "#verification" system. Adding a link to your Mastodon profile from your website using the rel="me" attribute will #verify that the owner of both the site and profile are the same, and you get this nifty green highlight to show it.
Just broke into software development. Currently struggling to grasp C!
