@namark In a network where we see jokes about people running Ubuntu as being #lame and a guy replies saying he's on Android, PlemeLame, yeah. 😜
You could say there's some subtle peer pressure, lol...
j/k, I don't mind. I am a power user in Windows environment, with network and sys admin skill I don't have in other systems. Never used a Mac. Linux is something I tried, and should do again for the technical merits.
I enjoy performance, and good tools. whichever system you are on, if it makes you productive, I would say it's a good one.
Thanks for the suggestions though. I have seen some pointers to OpenSUSE recently, any thoughts on that one?
Use more of your laptop or desktop screen!
@zsc And now I managed to get it even better. Toot composer on far left. Local feed on center column.
Clicking on any post on Local, expands it full on Rightmost column, Nice to see the post fully expanded, click on reply arrow, jump to Column 1 and type in a reply.
Now, that is using a full screen. 💯 🆗

@namark I have been using Microsoft op systems for a long time, and can work very comfortably in them. Windows 10 is their best version in recent times, although I do love NT 4 Workstation, now left as a memory.
I have tried and installed Linux in the past, the first time as a full night dial up download session. But never stuck to it, asa I felt uncomfortable and unproductive.
Will give it a try again, have free space reserved in various systems for that eventually happening.
@zevahs @shibaprasad I came in with the India Diaspora. 😉
Although I am not Indian, I did read about Mastodon first time on a BBC news report saying people were deserting Twitter in India and moving to Mastodon.
Uhm, what is that? Thats how I started.
Early November, around the 8th I think.
It has been great fun and I thank the Gods for showing me this path!

@zsc I liked it too - can live with it, unlike if it had all 3 feeds.
So, I posted to share and let people know there's hope for us wide screen users.
The Whalebird fediverse client is nice and allows full width control by simply dragging the frame edge on the column and dropping when satisfied.
But it runs as a separate process, and any clicks on links will jump into a browser - so it's better to have a client that runs natively in a browser.
Asked the Pinafore developer today if he could offer better support for us desk and laptopers.
@zevahs @shibaprasad Wonderful, glad we both are at the same instance.
Local feed and getting to know the denizens is really important.
Keep it up, friend. Good people are what makes a great community.
Use more of your laptop or desktop screen!
Trying to get use of the width on a real computer, laptop full screen is my preferred way to work.
Advanced Web interface can be enabled in Settings. CAN be overwhelming, I would agree, if you have Home, Local and Federated feeds all pulsing at same time. So I left it off.
BUT -- a little patience and you might find a pleasing arrangement. Reduced size image, the full size is: https://i.postimg.cc/zG6rb2d0/Qoto-3panel-full-sized.png
I like this one, wider Local feed show more than default.
Write.freely - the blogging platform for #fediverse
@zevahs Yay!! First customer in, welcome sir. 😺
I just discovered write.freely, from a recommendation from our admin.
Created a couple of accounts and am enjoying it, so now spreading the word.
Just posted at another instance:
just started mine, and very happy with #writefreely. Light, simple, no distracting controls like the full fledged major ones.
Nice and easy to concentrate, a night mode switch and it's a full black screen and your words flowing in, pleasing in white, so focusing. Love it.
https://writefreely.org for details.
I investigated a few instances of it, and settled on a couple. Would suggest Wordsmiths.social - as it allows up to 10 Blogs per user.
So you can create two or 3, each with a focus and not annoy your readers with a dog's breakfast mix when they visit.
your blog will show as a followable account in #fediverse.
my primary blog atm is at another instance, https://write.tedomum.net/rgx/
Write.freely - the blogging platform for #fediverse
A write.freely blog instance - can run in linux, mac or windows. woot.
https://github.com/writeas/writefreely/releases/tag/v0.11.1
For people simply wanting to write and create a personal blog, use one of the public, free instances listed : https://writefreely.org/instances
Awesome, simple, minimalist, fast, free - can it get any better?
#notacult #thought of the day
ReTootz r possible, #fediverse.
"I was asked today what I do for fun, and I legit had to refrain from saying that I was part of a cult of technomancers working to restore the future timeline to save the internet.
and that felt pretty good.
#freedom is :
- using a multiple content capable clipboard; keeping ten or more clippings ready for reuse at a moment's notice (TY Microsoft.com Win10)
- using a browser that is not Google controlled and spied on. (TY https://Waterfox.net and https://Mozilla.org Foundation)
- using a free, powerful, easy to learn all around joy, Irfanview image editor. (TY https://www.irfanview.com )
- using a simple and easy to work with blog, #fediverse aware and integrated. (TY https://writefreely.org )
@binsrc For the ones who are biology-challenged, myself included... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eukaryote
@binsrc What a thought.
#freedom at the #microscopic level. 😮
@realcaseyrollins Ooooh, I see.
I don't think I would be able to stand that, being too distracting for my taste. But seems to keep you finding new items, so, bonus. 😃
Dillo new browser, have we met? #fast is #good
ReToot is Possible!
"I saw someone mention the #dillo #webbrowser so I decided to try it out. Downloaded, then went to its help page (https://www.dillo.org/dillo3-help.html) and checked out the html source code... and it was actually human-readable!
Off to a stellar start!"

@maison_faim There might be a better quality version out there, found one on YT here at 480p seems smoother video.
@TuvixJaneway
ahhh, thanks. That was a satisfying fill up!!
