@otso

Sure there is only one humanity, and that humanity is made up of a large spectrum of races.

@whosthatguurrrl@mstdn.party @AmpBenzScientist

@otso

I dont agree with the premise that there is no such thing as race, so any conclusions drawn from that also fail.

@whosthatguurrrl@mstdn.party @AmpBenzScientist

@whosthatguurrrl@mstdn.party

Are they nott the areas considered palestine? What crazy nonsense are you making up now.

I also never tagged anyone, you were the first one in the thread to tag both of us.

You are at the point where you are making no sense, it is bizarre to read what your saying at all.

@AmpBenzScientist

@whosthatguurrrl@mstdn.party

1) No generalization took place

2) No not all generalization is prejudice.

#2 is easy to prove with comments like "Most black people have blood inside them". Clearly a generalization, clearly not racist.... Perhaps YOU need to start listening...

Prejudice is defined as: preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

Very clearly from this definition not all generalization is prejudice.

@AmpBenzScientist

@whosthatguurrrl@mstdn.party

No generalizations are not racist. The definition of racism is:

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

Saying a factual statement about what did or didnt happen such as what I said: "I've been in arab communities outside of Israel the people have been some of the kindest people I've ever met."

No thats not racist... The definition is very clear. It also isnt even a generalization, it is simply a statement of fact as to what I experienced and made no extrapolation to "everyone".

It is very odd just how hard you are bending over backwards to find racism where none exists.

@AmpBenzScientist

@whosthatguurrrl@mstdn.party

You are saying something totally different... You are talking about saying that about a single black person (which implies you assumed they would hurt you and were surprised they didnt)... That is a very different thing than simply saying "I've never had any bad experiences with black people in the past.

@AmpBenzScientist

@whosthatguurrrl@mstdn.party

Its racist to say a jew/musslim has never hurt me? Well thats a first.

@AmpBenzScientist

@obi no its nnot you , seems to have disapeared here too. Should come back soon i hope

@JoshuaACasey Oh, then that isnt surprising... I take itt you never heard of the IEEE before? They are a huge multinational organization, one of the largest.

@groundie Yes, though I tend to work on the CS side a bit more than the EE side lately.

@s_gruppetta

So just to clarify, for quotes you should see the link if your server doesnt support it.

For markdown you will see plain text if your server doesnt support it.

Gargron, the mainn dev of vanilla mastodon, is highly opinionated. He explicitly strips formatting from the markdown when it is received. He used to let the quote link stay and should be displayed but if not he might have went out of his way to strip that out too... why he keeps making it hard for people running his server to interact with others I have no idea.

But yea, sadly it seems gargron has intentionally worked to block features from other servers rendering locally even when they otherwise would have rendered.

@hynek @andrew

@KuJoe In that case it shouldnt be a problem and really shouldnt require any sort of special setup either.

@ambv For starters, hashtags already act as labels. It is possible to filter out content by hashtag, so it serves your purpose well.

That said, sounds like your on the wrong side of the fediverse. You tend to have three types of servers... The extreme left, very liberal, but also very quick to block/silence over silly things like not CWing, and this is where you see the heavy pressures to CW.

Then you have the extreme right wing, they wont ban for anything and generally a lot of their users go around harassing people or at least being very confrontational and rude. They will never CW anything except maybe nudity. They are in many ways the opposite of course.

Then you have a rare few instances, like QOTO, that are very neutral... We generally like to encourage people to speak freely, even about unpopular opinions, we talk to people instaed of banning them most of the time, though we will ban if someone is a bad enough actor. We only really CW things that are not safe for work.

Long story short, CWuing everything is not really something that is the norm ont he fediverse outside of a few very restrictive communities.

@w1wra Neither did I. I just saw the option as I was applyinng to be promoted to a Senior Memeber. I figured, what the hell.
