Slight A24 Civil War Spoilers

@realcaseyrollins Don't tell me how it ends, I am hoping the brits win!

@SteelFolk They are. Usually stainless with some sort of a coating, the kind of blades I use are the sharpest on the market and have chromium coating.

Im a little crazy about shaving. Though i dont always shave or shave often but when i do im a bit anal about it. First off i use an old school safety razor, but the three half blade kind rather than a single double blade. I also only use the razor for about 3 shaves then replace it. I also remove clean and dru the individual blades between shaves, oil them and store them outside of thr bathroom to avoid humidity. I even rotate the blades between shaves.

In case you arent familiar with half blade safety razors i attached a picture.

@avlcharlie

They would have a fsint smell of vinegar if you are able to detect it at all.

After just 5 minutes you can see the ants going crazy for the poison.

So been dealing with an ant problem and finally found a solution. The main problem was the ants just wouldnt find or go to the the poison traps. So...

@avlcharlie borax being a fine powder would prevent them from crossing it. But the reason they use borax is because if ants eat it they can no longer absorb nutrients and die. If you get the queen to eat it then you kill the colony. Ants share food so this is an effective tactic.

Problem is borax alone wont be seen as a food to ants so other than preventing them from passing by being a powder it wont actually kill them. Ant poison is usually some sort of food mixed with the borax, specifically sugar. This causes them to eat it and share it and kill the colony.

They probably recommend borax simply because it is assumed to be an effective poison on its own due to those reasons even though it is not. It must have sugar mixed with it to work.

Interesting fact though, insects dont have lungs or a respiratory system like humans do. They breath through holes in their skin and direct diffusion of gases. It is entirely passive and the whole reason why all insects are small. They simply cant get much bigger than they are without suffocating.

@AGTMADCAT

If it is abandonware as you describe it (the owning company no longer exists) then it is free and unrestricted to download and you cant get in trouble for it.

Only the person who owns the software can sue you or file a claim against you.

@davespice @darth

@avlcharlie

Thats likely because its a fine powder. Ants wont cross anything that is a fine powder either for the same reasons. Talcum powder is an effective barrier.

@davespice

Depends on the game. There are plenty of super old games still being sold and making money off of that have been refreshed for new platforms (even with no visual changes).

Now i know there is some abandonware that hasnt been sold in decades, but I would image the idea is that at some point someone might revive them but if the games are free then they loose that opportunity.

@darth

So been dealing with an ant problem and finally found a solution. The main problem was the ants just wouldnt find or go to the the poison traps. So it wasnt effective. But I found a way to fix that.

Leave some food out so you have a line of marching ants going to and from it. Most likely this already happened if you realize you have an ant problem at all.

Go to the end of the ant trail that is close to the food but where the trail is still a tight line (as it gets close to the food they will spread out to cover the food). Take a drop of cooking oil about 2/3ths the width of the poison container and put it directly on the ants making the trail. Then take a paper towel and wipe a very wide streak (a good meter should do it) in both directions from the blob. This will create a tin coat of oil the ants can not walk over (it will get on their feet and then they cant stick to stuff so they avoid it)..

At this point the ants will try to find a way around the barrier and will start trying to look for a way around the oil. Take your poison trap and place it exactly where you put the oil, right in the middle of the line of ants. make sure the streak of oil is thin enough that the trap creates a complete bridge (if any oil pokes out from under the trap it wont work).

the ants will quickly find the shortest new path which goes through the trap and across the poison. Once the ants have established a path through the trap to get to the food clean up all the food and leave the trap.

Now the ants will start taking the poison back to their nest instead of the food.

@darth

There is a difference between is it bad (a moral question) and if there is a negative effect (a functional one)...

There is clearly a negative effect for those trying to sell games. Whether it is moral or not is far more complicated and is a matter of varrying degrees..

Morality aside some of the negative effects that result from a culture of pirating:
1) People are less incentivized to create good games since they cant make as much profit off of it.
2) When games are made they need to use heavy DRMs that punish the people willing to legitimately pay for it.
3) Job loss

A moral judgement would have to weigh the good of giving someone a game to play and some enjoyment, vs these negative effects.

@darth When you borrow only one person can play the game at a time .So it doesnt take away from sales. When people pirate there is no such limitation and thus discourages purchases.

@volkris @dashrandom @avlcharlie @mapto Is is you who are saying things that are simply not true.

> Capitalism will exist regardless of government. Government has no say over whether capitalism exists.

Capitalism, being a free market, may not exist if governments pass laws which force the market to be non-free. For example price fixing of goods by definition makes for a non-free market. As long as that is actually enforced, even if enforced poorly, you no longer have a free market, at best you will have a black market, which again by definition is not a free market (free as in freedom).

> People will talk to each other regardless of what government thinks about it.

People talking to eachother isnt what makes a market free. Regardless, no, governments can and will stifle communication. Sure **some** will still happen but to say the government cant influence that is just plain wrong. Just look at North Korea the government very clearly has a large influence on what people say to eachother and how.

> Humans do capitalism because capitalism is in our incentives. We don’t ask permission from government to do capitalism.

I do of course agree, that capitalism is more or less the default. We will do it automatically. But only when we can, governments can and do prevent it all the time.

@dashrandom @avlcharlie @mapto @volkris How would a monarchy imply the nonexistance of communism? It does not.

I just looked at wikipedia, here is a quote:

> Biblical scholars have argued that the mode of production seen in early Hebrew society was a communitarian domestic one that was akin to primitive communism.[26][27]

@dashrandom @avlcharlie @mapto @volkris

Communism was first enacted by the Jews in ancient israel thousands of years before marx was even a sperm.

@freemo

this also means that CyberPunk 2077 BE would be in 1534 AD

Lunisolar
A lunisolar calendar is a lunar calendar that compensates by adding an extra month as needed to realign the months with the seasons. Prominent examples of lunisolar calendar are Hindu calendar and Buddhist calendar that are popular in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Another example is the Hebrew calendar, which uses a 19-year cycle.

@dashrandom @avlcharlie @mapto @volkris

How is a philosophy and an ideology even different. No clue how your arguing that marxism is not a more specific form of communism.
