We have this tendency to not see mental health as a disease. so for most of us we never realize these sorts of connections. But it is vital we change how we look at these things for everyone's sake.

Interesting fact of the day:

The average number of skeletons per person in the world is 1.0126

I am currently making cheese jerky... what a time to be alive!

I needed some sort of a really bright light for my work space. So I hacked a 16x Cree spotlight I had. I never used it much because it was have and took an insane amount of power (3 amps almost constant). So I hacked it to run off wall power instead and put it on my adjustable arm. I now have a blinding light ;)

Damnit. I just went through three TSSOP16 chips before I got it soldered right... I usually get these first try.

My friend gave me a fully functional antique frequency counter. I don't need it with my oscopes and spectrum analyzers, but you have to admit this thing is pretty sexy.

I'm pumping a 12 millivolt peak-to-peak sine wave into this thing at 10MHZ. That seems to be the bottom of it's resolution range. Much below that and the counter drifts. Not sure if that's the counter or my equipment though. I am using a cheap signal generator for this test.

Was talking to @ancientfurries@twitter.com about my mom who was undoubtedly a furry before furries were a thing. She fostered baby zoo animals, worked with & met Walt Disney himself, & wrote an animal column for @TheTorontoSun@twitter.com. Here she is with Teddy, a Barbary Lion she fostered in the 60s.

Cleaned up my Directional Coupler project. Labeled the ports and even added the electrical characteristics at different frequencies on the bottom. I then added a coat of lacquer resin to seal in that beautiful copper color (which otherwise would go brown as it oxidized).

The final result has a sort of beauty to it.

Interesting fact of the day:

Despite popular belief it is not really correct to say the speed of light is a universal speed limit in the universe. It would be more correct to say one object can never go faster, relative to another object by the speed of light.

In other words, no matter what speed I am going relative to the earth (or anything else) doesn't matter. All that matters is that nothing can go faster than the speed of light relative to me the observer.

I was cleaning out the cat boxes I keep in the yard and putting fresh straw in. Totally forgot about my nocturnal friend who was scared sensless and went hiding. I felt so bad cause he was shaking in fear. Took this quick picture then vacated the yard so he can get back to the safety if his box/home.

Poor little guy, too sweet, not mean bone in his body. I wish I could give him some cuddles ;)

If anyone is curious here are the characteristics of the Directional Coupler I just posted. The top line is the dBm on the forward port and the bottom line is the dBm on the REFL port for a 0dBm input signal. The markers for the common radio bands.
