As a kid I had a book, rather popular at the time and written for children, it was called "In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary stories", most kids knew the book. Anyway there was a version of the following story called "The Green Ribbon" with all the horror and detail of the original (and a little extra actually)... It amazes me this was ever a kids book by todays standards, but I'm glad I was raised in a time where kids werent sheltered to the point of absurdity.

No, I am a man, these are mostly women I have been close with. Attached are pics of her trying to cuddle me.. she was a professional cuddler as you can see :)
I had her from a fairly young age, I got her at 15/16 against my moms wishes (and had always wanted a dog growing up).. I literally went and got one the first week I had a license and a car to do so.. The story around that is a bit funny in its own right.
She lived 15 years, to an old pupperino, with sage wisdom and licks for all. But she was very near and dear to me, with all the emotional connection of a daughter, loosing her was like loosing any close relative and friend.
But yes, she passed after 15 years of smiles, this was soemthing like 7 or 8 years ago now, so the pain isnt as sharp, I just remember her with smiles and maybe a little water in my eyes but mostly happiness over having that time with her.
But yea its been 8 years and I still talk about her anytime I get the chance, I will be 100 years old and on my death bed and the nurse will tell me if i need anything and with my dying breaths I'll start with "Did I ever tell you about blue?"
It reminds me of the song Mr. Bojangles who also had a dog named Blue who died in his youth and for his whole life he would talk about Blue to everyone he met.
Here is the song along with a little spoken back story by Bromburg: https://youtu.be/50JBp71K5tw
"He spoke with tears of 15 years of how his dog and him traveled about. His dog up and died, ya know hsi dog up and died. After 20 years he still grieves." -- Mr. Bojangles
@noelle Hey, just wanted to check in and see how you've been doing (feel free not to respond if you dont feel like sharing how your doing).. Otherwise just wanted to say hi and let you know you're in my thoughts should you need anything.
FYI the post is public, feel free to respond publicly or DM in private if you prefer. Seemed you might be having a rough time as of late so just wanted to remind you I'm here if you need anything or just want to chat too, and wishing your the best in trying times.
She was a character to say the least. How much attention she gave you was directly perportional to how new you were.. New people she insisted on hello cuddles for the whole time your over. She would eagerly await for the gues to sit somewhere and then nudge her nose under their leg or arm and force her way in for some cuddle time.
Also the more the new person seemed standoffish or even scared the harder she tried. If you had a fear of dogs or pitties she would put in twice the effort insisting she break you of your fear with endless cuddles :)
Some random attached pictures as evidence.
My dog was an amazing liar too. I have a story I tell, it sounds like an exaggeration but I assure you it is not.
My friend had been staying with me and he had just had a gigantic > 1 foot cheese steak delivered and he sat down, unwrapped it and it was an inch away from his mouth when ht noticed he was stopped by my dog who had placed her water bowl on his lap.
you see she had conditioned us many times before that whenever she was done drinking her water bowl and it was empty that she brings it to one of us and we will go fill it for her, it was pretty cute and smart of her in her own right.
Anyway my friend of course puts his glistening cheese steak sandwhich down and gets up to fill her bowl.. Now usually the bowl sat right at the base of the sink we used to fill it. Right as he walks over to fill the bowl I hear a cry from him "what the hell there is water all over the floor" as he stands in a puddle with his socks. A split second later he looks over and sees my dog, propped up on the chair with an entire foot and a half long cheese steak going down her throat in one byte like she was an anconda. Even though he only turned his back away for a few seconds there wasnt a speck of food left, just a dog with a gigantic grin on her face.
It tooks us both a few seconds to realize what happened.. but what Blue did was she saw the cheese steak and even though her bowl was filled that cheeky bastard literally dumped the water on the floor and brought the bowl to him just to distract him from the cheese steak so she could get an in to steal it. It was cold, and calculated, and kinda fucking brilliant for a dog if you think about it. As far as I was concerned she earned that damn cheese steak :)
@freemo @funny @dogs that's exactly me to 😅
The reason it's me is because animals are innocent. They only want 1 thing in this world. To be loved.
They have no alternate motives, they just want to love and be loved. Full stop. (Domestic ones)
Humans on the other hand, lie, deceive, manipulate, kill for pleasure etc and usually get what's coming to them in those situations and it just didn't happen for no reason.

Ya know, I want to start off by saying I dont view myself as smart, I accept it only because everyone states it as so, but as a person society has labeled "smart" I can say that to me it doesnt appear i have too many special skills or do anything different than anyone else other than to simply try and not give up when i fail, and to keep trying till i either get to a solution or I understand why a solution cant be achieved. I have come to beleive being "smart" is more about persistence than it is about any natural abilities (though not being discouraged too easily might be a natural ability).
the other thing is making sure ideas stick, thats a big part of it. For that I suppose I do make some calculated decisions. For that side of things I find its all about application, learn a concept but not just for the sake of learning, think about fun creative ways to apply the knowledge and do it before moving on to the next idea (even if its just on paper to prove it out), if youc ant go so far as applying the idea try to add your own twist or modifications to it and discuss it with those who undertand the idea (IRC is great for that for educated subjects. People will probably give you a lot of resistance for doing this as it comes off as quackery (trying to improve or modify classical theories when you yourself barely understand them)... but it isnt about your ideas being true, even finding out why your modifications would fail to bring an improvement is something you learned and is of value.
In the endit always comes back to one thing to me though... failure is as valuable if not more so than success, as you learned something you thought to be true was not, so you learned something new and important.
It seems there is one universal personality trait that every great that made their way into the history books all share.. Failure motivated them rather than demotivating them.. Not sure that helps anyone to know, as it isnt something you can just replicate. But it does seem to be the key to success all the same.
