PeerTube - Keep it basic / Go back to basics!

We need sites that are pure function covering as many old browsers as possible.

I'm using Mypal 68 which is not that bad and "old" shouldn't be used against surfers so often...

Either it doesn't show videos or doesn't play. I think major changes hurt a lot more or expect people to keep up when clearly they are conscious or retro people more often then mainstream...

I think it would be great if I and others can really simple forever things... like you can still play an mp3 file...

More than a dozen lawmakers called on the Department of Commerce on Thursday to add ByteDance, the Beijing-based parent company of TikTok, to its export control list in order to “address critical vulnerabilities created by the company’s access to U.S. software.”

The group, led by Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), expressed concerns about the security of U.S. user data on TikTok, as well as the relationship between ByteDance and the Chinese government.

“TikTok provides the [Chinese Communist Party] with the ability to weaponize the platform by suppressing, magnifying, and otherwise constructing narratives to target specific audiences abroad,” the lawmakers said in a letter to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

“Applications from ByteDance are an accessory to the soft power and propaganda of the CCP, and we must mitigate the role of software access in facilitating this capability,” they added.

The lawmakers urged Raimondo to add ByteDance to the Bureau of Industry Security’s Entity List. The export of goods, software and technology to companies on the list are restricted.

“This step would be instrumental in applying licensing restrictions to the export of software from the U.S. to ByteDance for its applications,” they said.

“If American users are not able to upgrade their app with software updates, which involves the export of U.S. software, then the operability of the applications of concern will be weakened,” the lawmakers added.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, who appeared before Congress last week alongside four other tech CEOs to testify about children’s safety online, emphasized that TikTok has not shared user data with the Chinese government.

He also pointed to the social media company’s initiative known as Project Texas, which aims to wall off U.S. user data from the rest of the company.

However, lawmakers have expressed doubts about Project Texas, particularly after the Wall Street Journal reported last week that employees have sometimes been directed to share data with other parts of TikTok and ByteDance.

“Not only does this letter misrepresent the facts and the law, it also ignores the industry leading work we’ve done to safeguard protected U.S. user data,” a TikTok spokesperson said in a statement. “We’ve engaged in good faith with Congress and relevant agencies through the [Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States] process for over four years and continue to do so.”

And it's nice when someone says it well ! Being a cheap teacher or always available I think is a real tactic to basically doing what people could almost do themselves and with a bit of courage or even the wrong answer get them going and even witness their life for them!...

ℹ️ I've been doing the one-by-one / p2p / 1-to-many approach for years, for those that can trust a bit and really want to get there to the other side of things... we're all wonderful 🌠

Sometimes I feel like I'm over-trying to get the attention of the bourgeoisie, but I really don't what else or who else will help win this war from middle outwards to the upper class and lower class almost like a regrowth of bacteria injected in the middle... (mostly intelligence growth from financial Petri dish)

So the lower class can't do much but work / sleep and upper class won't want to give up power...

but middle class / comfy bourgeoisie (who are terribly nice people) are also a mixture of both /sometimes/ 🤕

I am also writing to say I making it clear in this way because frankly people doing this isn't good enough and though it's maybe not personal / direct to me, it is all kinda in the end in some way as so many impersonal things in the world accumulate and add up, so not all your fault at all but you could say *some* more.

So this needs solving (in teaching, in tech etc, in many things) and just saying I never aimed to harass any teacher that doesn't answer(!)... but having a position or claiming to do things right naturally involves a bit of flack and like I suggested make a FAQ page to answer people who ask why you use non-FLOSS stuff... or if I have it wrong just say so (a bit).

I can't even accept 'too busy' at this point as you're too good replying / doing things elsewhere. Totally I can accept "I like Google because xyz and AI as it save me time regardless of danger down the line of giving my data to them" - in short - I'll accept that.

I hope you wouldn't expect anything less than someone trying to sort out why people disconnect in the world and what it's basically and deliberately being politically silent... which in the end does say things or leave others to their own conclusions or wondering why. Not that I'm not trying to make too fast a judgement but obviously you were happy to talk before and suddenly not now 🤔

So that's my respect given to you in saying directly "hey I'm waiting" and not behind your back complaining, as you see from those who don't get a bit of answer obviously in the world already. I wrote to you about BigTech and war without putting all on you but hey you tell me.

█ People who have power and chosen responsibility but misuse their position or don't fulfil it staying silent when they know of the wrong for waay too loong and don't help improve things also.

█ Those who represent / speak for others, but choose not to put themselves at risk and leave others waiting in vain.

█ People who avoiding answering the truth and further cover up things, not only by not being transparent (or even saying why not transparency) but even adding layers.

█ Self-denial or feeling of shame which becomes hidden violence, even after self fear, it becomes negligent over time and lying to themselves or others as abusive stakes only get higher. Negligence.

█ We all have power and I think we all abuse it when deliberately being non-players... like taking away each others voice in order for it not happen or effect us.
