The age wars are contrived and have very little utility. I'm convinced many others put in the same situation would have the same behaviour.
The serious part of the discussion that's important IMO is understanding the proper social contract between old and young alike.
It seems every generation faces the opportunity to turn on younger generations for self-interesred gain one way or another. Like cycles of abuse within families but across society at large.
I would go further and say that a generation doesn't pick their own leaders/elites but they are adopted by the leaders of the previous generation.
