Ok, getting verified wasn't as hard as I thought it would be on Blogger/blogspot and Wordpress sites. HOWEVER, forget about it on Google Sites. I tried embedding the verification code from Mastodon to no avail (embedding was easy, having it work, no).

Anyone figure out how to verify a Google Sites website? @edutooters

Need free curriculum for teaching that most necessary of subjects, geography? Then you are in luck. A solid knowledge of geography provides an understanding of politics and culture. Some of my hashtags for your consideration:

Why do high-effect size instructional strategies endure over time? They do so because they have a growing body of research that reveals their efficacy in accelerating student growth. When we use technology to make learning relevant to real life, we amplify the impact of strategies that work. When relevant, use it. When not, skip the tech.

For fellow arrivals, @freemo (the amazing Qoto.org admin) shared a Domain Blocking List.

If you import this comma-separated values (CSV) file into your Mastodon account via the Preferences, that can help keep spammers and bad actors out of your timelines/feeds. I know some folks have complained about it.

Here's the Domains Blocked file in Google Sheets. You can go to File ->Download->CSV to get a copy of the domains blocked list.

Then, once you have it saved, import it via your Preferences -> Import->Domain Blocking List as shown in the screenshot.

If you're wanting to boost your ed tech knowledge but don't know where to start, take a look at three key sources to explore. - blog.tcea.org/ed-tech-pro/

“Google Sheets has now added an official timeline creation tool!

With this new feature it is super easy for students to create and share interactive timelines right in Google Sheets that include titles, descriptions, dates, links, colors, groups and more.” - controlaltachieve.com/2022/11/ via @ericcurts @edutooters

“Research shows that preschoolers who participate in challenges not only hone their thinking and problem-solving skills, they develop a positive perception of and that encourages them to pursue subjects later in life. “ - corp.smartbrief.com/original/2

@EduCroupe Welcome! 🖖 😀

There are many educators here. Some tips to connect:

1) Add hashtag to your toots/posts;

2) Join the EduTooters Unite! List at tinyurl.com/joinedutooters;

3) Follow and include @edutooters group in every education related post and that will send the toot to everyone who follows it no matter what Mastodon instance they are on;

4) Add hashtags to your toots. 🤩

5) Finally, check out these “tootorials” at go.mgpd.org/feditoots for quick tips. Don't be afraid to boost toots/posts and share a hashtag rich with others with that hashtag. :-)

“The largest and easiest gains in knowledge work come from redefining the task. They involve eliminating what need not be done,” says Peter Drucker. Didn’t get the results you want? Prune the unnecessary. Stop doing anything and everything that fails to move you towards those results. Are you a principal focused on achieving innovative learning? How you get there varies. blog.tcea.org/three-simple-ste @edutooters

Wanted to do a to @dougholton for his leadership and support in maintaining the list to get educators connected to each other. Thank you, Doug. @edutooters

A bit of reflection...

When I created the EduTooters Unite! (tinyurl.com/joinedutooters), my hope was to connect with more educators, and to set up a "lifeboat" for those trying to find their way on in the midst of crazy .

Doug wasn't afraid to step up and help spread the word, both on Mastodon and Twitter. I'm' also grateful to whomever suggested/originated the hashtag.

I should have paid more attention, but to be honest, I made the EduTooters group in a rush before running out the door to get breakfast with my wife. I would have paid more attention to calling the new group @edutooter than @edutooters which is the group that ended up with more people.

Oh well, live and learn. There's still going to be a lot of folks coming over, and I hope all of us on and @edutooters can continue to help folx get connected.

I am now thinking of starting different groups that are focused on / , but that may be unnecessary. What do you think?
