@freemo
Saying "follow the science" is ironic considering science has proven that all human has different level of knowledge
Those type of peepole should stay shut if "can't" or "doesn't want" to elaborate.
@kmic
> from origin 'https://qoto.org' has been blocked ... resource
what does this post supposed to mean ?
@wikitramcam @Sphinx does this count as commercial ? If so does using qoto.org account for commercial use allowed ?
@dankmaximus did you know that debian could be configured to act the same as ubuntu without the prioprietary stuff ?
@torresjrjr definitely git.
@blinkwarp make a separate partition for learning purposes and one for productivity.
My old broken laptop has 4 os installed on it's hard drive.
1. Windows
say what you want but this windows pc was unbloated enough to the core to the point it doesnt sends too much request to microsoft server.
Why use windows? Well i still occassionally play steam games and having bumblebee driver was a mess in linux so ? Yeah thats what i thought.
Sorry no guide it's been 2 years since it broke and i forgot how to do that but i can tell you that it involves some host hased blocking and program debloating like cortana microsoft store etc.
2. Debian lts.
I do kernel compiling for my phones here. It's really stable distro. Too stable i might say. I rarely see warning on dmesg.
From my experience I prefer getting my ass blasted off rather than trying to get bumblebee drivers working on debian without touching prioprietary stuff and a whole lot of debugging.
3. Manjaro
It's a neat os if you wan't to learn more about linux (i recommend gentoo if you're a masochist).
To summarize my thoughts on manjaro.
It's a distro For someone who enjoys pacman and arch linux but can't install regular arch linux (lol).
Again bumblebee was a mess on this distro too.
It was fun reading the kernel dmesg.
My experience running this dostro was.
Found error > try to fix it > "fixed" it by myself > program no working || os no boot *suprize pikachu face*
4. I forgot what it was.
It's either opensuse (blazingly fast package manager) or solus os.
@blinkwarp after taking a quick look at your articles title.
I would want to say.
No shit sherlock
distressing story
@blinkwarp they're imbecile.
This is why i abandon religion and pursue "morals".
The essence of most religion is to have good morals, and they base their good morals on how god behave.
Now Imagine promoting your religion by spreading terror and harming others.
If they hate getting terrorized why does they terrorize others ? If so then their god is a fookin hypocrite (no offense, but if you promote a some type of beliefs people expect your behavior is the kind of behavior that accepted by your god).
I mean wouldn't they think about this at some points.
In conclussion.
They're still imbecile and always will be. if they blindly follow their religion (it's not a religion at this point considering there's too much type for one single religion. It's a fookin cult).
And doesn't use common sense and morals. By morals i mean just don't be a d*ck to others.
@jang @fribbledom sure it is when it's something like a regular thing. You can't put a price tag on a game (somewhat like an art)
that why game devs usually goes whacky when putting a price tag on their software.
So Black friday deals are kinda worth.
@fribbledom lmaooo
I'm really glad that i'm not the only one who ever thought this way.
@freemo btw Mr. Freemo, does any changes you made on the qoto.org mastodon frontends viewable on qoto.org source on git.qoto.org ?
@freemo @users
> you originally stated "generic" though, and I'd say a generic one would probably hurt more than help as it isnt likely to align with our promises and may even contradict them (which people will use as fodder against us).. While I do support a legalese written version of each I think it would have to be written custom to our policies and not generic at all. We would also have to be very careful to protect everyones interest while not giving rise to language that may be misconstrued against us. The concern here is the second it sounds like legal writing people will become far more critical and use it to attack us, and sadly legal writing tends to be really tricky to do right. Promise too much and our hands our tied in addressing edge cases, promise too little and people will take it as a license for abuse from mods.
Sorry for that
By "generic" i mean that.
It should notice whats logged on user-instance related activity like logins and any other activity that's could classified as "instance" related.
And for the other thing.
Since Mastodon use activitypub. Instance owner can't be hold accountable for something that's been posted and shared on activitypub.
Any information related like post, profile pict can that's deleted can only be "invisible" and not gone (does profile pict also shared on activitypub networks? This also apply to qoto.org service that relies on that too).
Since (god forbid) in theory, someone could make an instance who federates just to mine peoples data.
@freemo
> is it something you'd personally like or benefit from.
Well yes, but actually yes.
After doing a quick look on the qoto user graph on @users . I see a steady raise of registered user.
And seeing this instance were meant to be a place for "stem" oriented people (at least that's my thought on of the "about page" of this instance).
Having legal protection might seems nice.
> Just really curious why it would be something you desire. I find most people never care nor notice it when there is one. My concern is legal jargon might scare users away and give a negative impression, but i think it does serve a purpose.
I mean. Most of us who ditch tw**ter for mastodon were concern about our privacy and them cencoring people.
And seeing qoto.org federates with all instance warms my heart. (No cencoring )
Maybe it's time to put a privacy policy since the "about this instance" seems clear about it's terms of service.
@freemo
Thanks for the quick response sir.
Yes. "Legal", just for sake of it.
@ninesigns
clients :
Go read.
https://xmpp.org/software/clients.html
For chats i recommend using "dino" or "gajim" on desktop and "conversations" on android
Always use either otr, omemo or pgp for encryption otherwise all your communication is plaintext (if your server used an https protocol. It's encrypted on transmission. But still it's stored as plaintext on the server unless you used either that encryption method that i listed above.)
For sociao media use movim.
For further details read docs at xmpp.org
Server :
https://the-federation.info/ sure provide server list.
Cheers!
i based my political and religion view on morals (means "do whatever you want, if it's not harming others or your environment, it's all good for me")
There's no "past". it's only "now" and "your choice". So think wisely
