Lata temu na Twitterze była ciekawa rozmowa o słowiańskich imionach dla piesków. Ciekaw jestem, czy od tego czasu coś się zmieniło. Znacie jakieś?
Zostawtosław.
This stork lives in the largest nest in my area. He didn't build it himself – he inherited most of it. Some like living in huge homes built from sticks and shit by their ancestors. Enshittification is not unique to humans.
Found this weird plaster disk going through old junk and it brought memories of really bad times. I bought it over 20 years ago for something like a quarter of my monthly income, but my partner insisted. It was supposed to cure her cancer. Of course it didn't, but it gave her a bit hope. The things that helped were surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. She lived four or five years longer than the doctors initially expected. I was going to throw the disk out, but it turns out it helps to prevent diseases. We keep in on a small table on our porch. When we come home with #IdąPsięta, our dogs, from a walk through meadows and forests we sit at the table, smoke cigarettes, and pick ticks from the dogs. We put the ticks on the table and crush them with the disk. So it prevents boreliosis, babesiosis, and a number of other tick-carried diseases. A bit expensive device – we used cheap plastic lighter to crush ticks, but somehow this is more satisfying. And it's a good reminder – fuck quacks who make money on useless magical cures.
Duct tapes and zip ties hold the gateway and the antenna together on the mast, ready to go up. It's getting dark and it's hard to get focus. Will continue tomorrow.
Our 1000 litre water tank holds water for gardening and power emergencies. It's also useful to put things on it. And its metal cage is often used for attaching things that go high up. That moose bone is very useful when you need something to jam the mast in a plastic pipe attached to the tank cage to keep the whole thing stable.
In order to put the gateway high up we needed a couple of things. A mast – no problem, there were 6m (about 20ft) of aluminium lying around in the garden for some reason. The hermetic box was a problem though. When you live in the forest of Eastern Poland you just don't walk into a store and buy what you need. You buy what they have. We needed a hermetic box for the Raspberry Pi. Our store had Barbie raspberry ice cream. A perfect fit.
A short thread about Barbie, drills, and #LoRaWAN. This is our basic drill with an attachment to make standard size holes in plastic. Today we decided to put the second LoRaWAN gateway up – signals from some sensors didn't get through when the gataway and the antenna lied on the dogs' favorite couch in our tiny house.
Testing a #LoRaWAN sensor in the surrounding forests. If you don't know why the cover is open, please don't ask. If you know why, please don't laugh.
#Polesia wetlands #IdąPsięta
I wonder if they finally caught the wind of coal deposits just a few hundred metres below.
Slowly moving to https://circumstances.run/@Szescstopni. This account will stay up for a while.
Living in the #wetlands of #Polesia (#Polesie in Polish) in #EasternPoland. Surrounded by #bogs and #forests, trying not to fuck up surrounding nature too much.
Taking care of a small pack of #dogs (most of them rescue dogs) – #IdąPsięta.
#RuralBroadband provider by accident. Starting a small #LoRaWAN project to monitor our wetlands. Coding, mostly in #Python. Luddite.
#Atheist. I don't believe in #science – science is our defence against belief.
Fuck nazis.
I haven't deleted my account on Twitter, for good reasons, but I'm not using it anymore. https://twitter.com/szescstopni
I check facts before I toot.
I sometimes toot in Polish.
Zdolny, ale leniwy.
