@freemo ah! So the 500 char thing is only for writing, not reading?
#Qoto has a 65.5k char limit on posts. Crossposting readily separates them into threads on Twitter, but what do other Mastodon instances, with their 500-char limit, do with them?
@lispyclouds Very cool! Is that nil-extra concept something from Monads?
@worldsendless @thibaultamartin All apps, including the web app. I think it's a known issue, as it's pointed out in for example an article from Tuesday:
> in general, you can only easily see people your friends follow or are followed by if those people happen to use the same server as you. (If you follow someone whose account is hosted on your server, you’ll also be able to see a complete list of the people they follow and are followed by.)

@lispyclouds sounds like this whole thing needs discussion of threading macros like ->
@sab @thibaultamartin what app/interface are you using?
@lispyclouds brilliant! 🤣
Who decided to call it Lambda Calculus insteas of Separation of Church and the State?

@lispyclouds for those of us not fluent in monads, can you explain what it's doing? Something to do with state. Or arity?
Woah - German government has got its own Mastodon instance and most of the ministries and many agencies already have accounts.
Verification problem at least partially solved - just need to check the domain is right!
I've also seen newspapers like theatlantic.com set up instances themselves. Looks like verification will be worked out sooner or later.

I see lengthy threads like this one, and so many people struggling with #Mastodon, and I have to wonder, is it the apps? I never used Twitter mobile app, nor do I use any Mastodon apps, but never have any problems with my three Mastodon accounts in the web interface. What is broken?
@SOB2 Hey, sorry if the reading of my comic strip is "superiority". That wasn't my intent. 😔
In fact, this morning, my TL on Tw was full of threads crypto/nfts/AI/web3 influencer against "mastodon complexity". An irony in regards of their topic.
So, that's why I sketched this strip, mostly about people not doing the effort or low effort and then using a pretext of "bad UX" , "Complexity" or anything else to justify their final behavior: keep Twitter and trying to influence other to do so too.
@thibaultamartin I have four Twitter accounts and three Mastodon. Other than anti-features like algorithmic feed tampering, circles, and newsletters, what is missing from Mastodon?

Hello fellow Emacsen!
Have you taken the Emacs 2022 survey yet? If not, please take ~10 minutes of your time to fill it out! https://emacssurvey.org/ #emacs
#clojure tooling gets a lot of leverage out of @graalvm native-image nowadays:
https://github.com/babashka/babashka - scripting, fast startup
https://github.com/clj-kondo/clj-kondo - linting, static analysis
https://github.com/borkdude/jet - jq for clojure (EDN, Transit, JSON)

Since almost all Mastodon #instances that I used to recommend to friends (like chaos.social) have closed or limited registration amid the current user influx, I've decided to once again start operating a general-purpose one at https://ohai.social. I intend to keep it running long-term and it follows the Server Covenant outlined at https://joinmastodon.org/covenant. Feel free to invite friends there!
Did you know that if you capitalize each word in a multi-word hashtag, #ScreenReaders can read them as words, but if you leave them lowercase, they can't? Well, now you know! So, for #accessibility, please capitalize words when there's more than one in a hashtag.
