Who decided to call it Lambda Calculus insteas of Separation of Church and the State?

Woah - German government has got its own Mastodon instance and most of the ministries and many agencies already have accounts.
Verification problem at least partially solved - just need to check the domain is right!
I've also seen newspapers like theatlantic.com set up instances themselves. Looks like verification will be worked out sooner or later.

I see lengthy threads like this one, and so many people struggling with , and I have to wonder, is it the apps? I never used Twitter mobile app, nor do I use any Mastodon apps, but never have any problems with my three Mastodon accounts in the web interface. What is broken?

@SOB2 Hey, sorry if the reading of my comic strip is "superiority". That wasn't my intent. 😔
In fact, this morning, my TL on Tw was full of threads crypto/nfts/AI/web3 influencer against "mastodon complexity". An irony in regards of their topic.
So, that's why I sketched this strip, mostly about people not doing the effort or low effort and then using a pretext of "bad UX" , "Complexity" or anything else to justify their final behavior: keep Twitter and trying to influence other to do so too.

Hello fellow Emacsen!

Have you taken the Emacs 2022 survey yet? If not, please take ~10 minutes of your time to fill it out! emacssurvey.org/ #emacs

The "Clojure Alphabet" series I am writing with Ingo Küper is still being printed monthly (for 17 months now 😱), we arrived at the letter "Q" and talk about quality. Readable code, structural editing, clj-kondo, all the good stuff which makes Clojure such a nice language 😎

#clojure tooling gets a lot of leverage out of @graalvm native-image nowadays:

github.com/babashka/babashka - scripting, fast startup
github.com/clj-kondo/clj-kondo - linting, static analysis
github.com/borkdude/jet - jq for clojure (EDN, Transit, JSON)

Since almost all Mastodon #instances that I used to recommend to friends (like chaos.social) have closed or limited registration amid the current user influx, I've decided to once again start operating a general-purpose one at ohai.social. I intend to keep it running long-term and it follows the Server Covenant outlined at joinmastodon.org/covenant. Feel free to invite friends there!

Did you know that if you capitalize each word in a multi-word hashtag, #ScreenReaders can read them as words, but if you leave them lowercase, they can't? Well, now you know! So, for #accessibility, please capitalize words when there's more than one in a hashtag.

What!? strings (like stuck in to email) keep linebreaks, while also allowing \n and \t!? What is going on? This doesn't happen in JVM-land...

Meta is in fire. They just sacked 11,000 staff. That's 1/8 of their workforce.

What's more, Zuckerberg insists on investing further in the metaverse—he's fiddling while Rome burns. theguardian.com/technology/202

Meta is laying off 11,000 employees? That's a lot of people. 😞

Whoa. moa is now crossposting my comments, as well as my posts. That's new.

Asking the wider fediverse: is there a reliable 3rd party scheduler that allows you to include images with alt text?

(perhaps @feditips knows?)

Upon downloading a page, I found the images are data:image/svg+xml;base64,PHN... stuff. I figured there should be a quick way to view them, but I can't find one. Any help with viewing images that are base64 svg+xml?

Was thinking the #TwitterMigration reminds me of the OPPOSITE of the GooglePlus launch.

Then you had a very robust, polished Silo of a Facebook Clone site. Pretty full featured and shipped like Googlers ship all their products...but a Ghost Town.

Here you get something no one owns, not even one platform like #Mastadon owns. And it is already well beyond in some ways what Twitter offers, in other ways different and rougher...but so ALIVE with people, inventing new ways to extend and use.

Yesterday instead of writing a script in bash I gave Babashka (a Clojure interpreter) a try. I would say I’m more proficient with Bash than with Clojure at this point, but I feel the resulting code is actually better with Babashka: having access to a REPL is really a game changer for writing cleaner and more modular code. A very positive experience overall, thank you @borkdude!
