At this point I'm too far down the rabbit hole to imagine switching from emacs (far more than code usage). But I'm haunted by the possibility of specialized editors, even though webdev is intrinsically polyglot. Cross-pollination, though, rules my philosophy, and emacs triumphs.

Migratus takes care of loading specified sql files in a particular order, and provides Clojure bindings to run/create said files. It takes an init file, run at the start to set up your schemas, then runs all the up and down migrations in numerical-sort order, where the recommended numeral is something like the Unix timestamp.

So it runs any number of SQL things on your database, and does it in the right order. It also supports knowing which ones have already been run, and being able to back-track them. So it's all about batching and ordering, with some features (which, I'm ashamed to admit I've never used) for versioning your database.

I export orgmode to my blogs. However, when I have an underscore (like in a section header) it is interpreted as putting the next thing in a subscript. There are plenty of answers out there for disabling this globaly or for the whole file, but I WANT subscripts sometimes. How do I tell it to leave just a particular _ alone when I export?

I have been replacing java application servers with raw uberjar deployments, which are more stable and reliable. It takes a little setup, though. Notes updated https://orys.us/um. Improvements welcome, as I am just working out devops as part of my fullstack work.

In #Clojure when a function exceeds 2 sequential args it's time to consider using a map instead. In shell scripting, when bash exceeds single-level if statements, time to consider #babashka. Avoid questions like, "wait... has bash semantic whitespace?" "Do I need semicolons after every line?"

@freemo is it just, unnecessary upgrades make waste? Or is there a known issue?
