I don't see why the #Olympic womens' figure skating medal ceremony should be delayed for everyone. couldn't they have just not awarded the gold yet, since that's in doubt, then reaward after the case is worked out

@DeveloperMemes who peels carrots for soup? just wash and cut into pieces
@izaya for a security job? I feel like you could just say you won and which competition, since CTF is a known activity that demonstrates practical security skills

for some reason, this made me think of a scene in Octavia Butler's "Dawn" (I think it was dawn anyway) where the main character drops an orange on the ground and it starts to damage the environment. naturally, if your world was a living ship, you would know not to "pollute" living systems by mixing them in an uncontrolled way. in some ways though, our world really is a living ship that we should think of caring for in that way. some do, but it's not taught as widely because we've gotten to pretend the world is virtually boundless for so long.
@izaya maybe, but are the marketing people also going to get paid by this? or the custodians in the game devs' office? or HR?
The dough for this also had a relatively long time to proof: I started it in the mid-afternoon and let it sit, first in a warming drawer, then at room temp, then in the fridge overnight. I credit that with giving the bread a lot of its flavor: there's a bit of sour that I like that I generally don't detect for a shorter proof.
@jeffalyanak ah. forgot I had ever played this on GBA. weird, sad, fun game.
Beautiful tribute to Mother 3!
US Olympic coverage.
@readsteven bobsled? I think a British team was overturned. it looked pretty bad since the pilot's helmet was against the wall as the slid, but they both walked way
all self-knowledge is good. even so, it's rather disappointing to me to realize how much external motivation I need to really get things done. it's not universal, obviously: I've managed to study, exercise, and eat healthy at different times without anyone telling me to. still, when there are no consequences in terms of my personal or professional relationships, it's far too easy for me to just put things off or drop them.
@izaya the music of your people?
@izaya that shouldn't be hard. aren't you in Australia?
