Two things can be true:

1) Nobody has a right to prevent/stop others' behaviour that they find upsetting.

2) It is polite to refrain from behaviour that upsets others, at least in their presence.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the sound mixing in Chris Nolan movies is terrible. He tries so hard to make it grandiose with thumping base tones that half the time I can't understand what anyone is saying.

@Wolven This is what happens when we spend thousands of years using community to reject evolution 🤷‍♂️

Let mother nature make her corrections, I say.

@skye I do. Mostly for work. AMA.

Also, the free versions aren't free. The people who use them just aren't paying in money.

@squipo Lol, correct, it is a single word wrapped to multiple lines and I didn't like how it looked with the hyphen. The saving grace is that the tooltip properly displays it as one word.

@Hexa I did originally have that (and ears for earrings), but then I decided to remove them since, due to the art style, they wouldn't be visible on the characters and this is a non-magic setting so they also wouldn't be functional.

Wait, are the movies Fight Club and Barbie opposite sides of the same coin, or have I been awake too long again?

@rysiek Except it's worth noting that your manager is probably just as screwed as you are.

When they say they can't afford a raise for you at this time, what they really mean is "Executive management gave themselves a bonus and froze my payroll budget."

Isn't it weird how, when you get good enough at programming, that you can press build and know immediately whether it will succeed or failed without looking at the results?

Intuition is the freakiest of our senses.

"We need to fly through a dusty desert atmosphere!"

"Okay, no problem, I'll build a craft with four non-fixed vibratey wings that expel ten times the energy of a rotor or propeller, are much more likely to cut bystanders in half, and have multiple joints exposed to the harsh wear-and-tear of the endless sand."

"That sounds terrible. Why would you do that?"

"Because it will look cool!"

"Okay, let's do it!"

My god those dragonfly ships in Dune are stupid and impractical.

Thinking about making a phone app where I can log my meat consumption and get an alert every time I've eaten a whole animal.

Would also work with vegetables, I suppose. "You ate 0.37 acres of lettuce in salads this year."

@andrew Right, but it's usually invoked sarcastically, isn't it?

Like, when I say it, I don't mean the person should actually have more power. I mean that they should think they have more power if it gets them out of the way of me getting shit done.

It’s #STFUfriday!

When cops ask you questions, ask for a lawyer and then STFU:

- I am not discussing how I’m doing or where I’m going.

- Am I free to leave?

- I am not answering any questions.

- If they ask to search anything: "I do not consent to a search."

- I want to speak to a lawyer.

No thread this week. Just keep it simple. Ask for a lawyer and STFU.
