You don't have to be a Constitutional expert. The founders wrote the Constitution in plane language so everyone could understand it. Just read Section 2, Article 10, last paragraph. It is very clear.

If they really want to do this, they should amend the Constitution or just scrap it all together and start over again since there is a bunch other stuff the needs to change anyway.

According to the US Constitution, states can't enter into a compact without the consent of the US Congress and Congress has not given their consent. So this compact is not legal.

Even if they got enough states, they'd have to go back to Congress to first get permission, then go through the whole process again because Congress can't enact any ex post facto law. It would also require approval by the President (or 2/3 of Congress if vetoed), and also require approval by the Supreme Court.

I don't know why they are bothering with all of this when they know that it is not legal.

Also, any state could back out at any time if they wanted to, which kind of defeats the whole purpose.

They're called contrails, not chemtrails, and that pic has been photoshopped.

I had to delete/re-edit that original toot. Here's a link to the new one. (Only one day left!)

Thank you for providing the disambiguation. (BTW, the ttrpg tag wouldn't have helped me because I don't know what that is either. 🙂 )

I meant that the mainstream media was not putting out a false narrative about Sweden, so I didn't need to provide a counter to it.

@trinsec

The mainstream media in the US is not talking about Sweden.

@trinsec

I know that the US killed more than a million Americans. That's more COVID-19 deaths than other country in the world. There are only a few countries in the world that had a higher overall percentage death rate than the US.

You can literally throw a dart at a map of the world, and the country that it lands on did a better job than the US.

Especially in the trunk.

@trinsec

I live in the US. The whole reason I even mentioned China was to counter all the propaganda coming out of the US mainstream media. I live here. I see it everyday. The media in the US are pumping this shit out full throttle right now. They are just flat out lying about what China is doing and what is happening there. They are trying to prep the US population in the US to go to war against China, so we're seeing a bunch of propaganda right now.

The fact is that China busted our asses in fighting COVID-19. And the policymakers in the US fucked up -- big time. That's a fact. There's no use even arguing about this -- the numbers speak for themselves. Which is why I am tooting them out, without comment.

@trinsec

I don't worship China, but I abhor what the US did to its own citizens.

China didn't flatten the curve; they eliminated the curve.

There is only one way to evaluate the success or failure of a country's COVID-19 policies -- the number of cases and deaths, and the number of people with long-term chronic illness.

@trinsec

Well, China did the right things to control the epidemic there, and the US did all the wrong things, so those numbers make sense from that standpoint.

@trinsec

I just copy and pasted that disam page from Wikipedia and didn't bother sorting through them all. I just did it to make a point about abbreviations. (Although, that one makes sense - if I was a bird I wouldn't mind living in a birdhouse like that. 🙂 )

@peterdrake

@trinsec

>"Provided China has been reporting correctly. Which I doubt."

I don't trust the US or China, and I don't think either one would have numbers that are any more reliable than the other. But this is all we got.

@trinsec

>"onsidering his past with boardgames, I'd have thought a d20 die shape."

I don't even know what that is.

I'm sure he'll let us know what he was talking about in the morning.
