So! Good morning and all my friends on . How you been?

Me, been better. Having something of an off day to be honest. My fault entirely, as I forgot to reup my prescriptions with my pharmacy. SO now I'm out of meds and going through some minor withdrawal that's only going to get worse as the day goes on.

Hopefully I'll have meds tomorrow. Goodness I hope so because I'm not looking forward to my overnight period of shivering, sweating, and choking on my own tongue. :/

Tore up my bike with a night time 10 mile bike ride (16km) at 11pm. I love dutch farm land in the middle of the night being all alone.

I am also pretty proud of my average moving speed (had to stop for a phone call at one point), it was almost 10 mph (16 kph) over the course of the whole trip.

's desire to have good relations with all countries around the world is admirable. The must realize that it's transactional relationship formula with Pakistanis at the cost of their national interest/s won't work any more. All power to the new Pakistan!

Hi all! I'm super excited to learn as much as possible about EVERYTHING. This is my second account for badgering people with questions and asking for book recommendations and such, so I'm warning you 😋

Right now specifically I'm diving into theory of computation and am looking for a specific book that started with binary, hex, bar codes, telegraph machines, etc but I can't find it yet. Still looking. Cheers!

My research involves quantifying trace, toxic, particulate matter with neutron activation analysis. This is the neutron generator I use to irradiate air sampled filters, which are then analyzed by gamma spectroscopy.

Deuterium gas feeds into the magnetron on the left, which is ionized into plasma. The plasma strikes a deuterium film target in the chamber on the right, producing helium and a neutron beam. Aluminum then moderates the beam to thermal energy.

What do you guys think of th enew emoji (and soon to be official logo) of ? :qoto:

Hi. I had written an earlier post but it lacked details. So a grad student in physics, with applications in (macro-)economics. Have my fingers in lots of pies: Pyrotechnics, Science popularization, Freelance on machine learning and deep learning. Like to learn new languages - computer and human. Interested in new pedagogical techniques and/or bringing teaching into the 21st century. Looking to discuss on any/every topic under the sun. Good day!

I saw this and I thought of

I love the community we have built here. No one waiting in the bushes to assault you if you say something they dont agree with; just acceptance and inclusion of everyone's ideas, it is wonderful!

With some friends we are setting up a local informal environmentalist group, with the aim of pushing forward good practices, spread sustainability, ecological awareness, and this kind of . stuff.

So far we are planning of doing , production, workshops, library, , collective purchase from farms, but we'd like to have more on the todo list.

Help me get out of our echo chamber, and give me your ideas about more activities we could engage ourselves and the local communities in.

Thanks!

if a sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, is a sufficiently mundane technology indistinguishable from its context?

ex: nobody thinks of language as a technology but here we are with a decentralized system of overlapping transient protocols that we use to hack each other’s brains because we literally cannot imagine a society without communication

My Philosophy. CWed and split for Length and ease of reading. Part 6/Final.

Integrity is very, very important to me. Integrity, in this case, is a consistent set of rules. A framework of behavior and how you should be as a person.

Integrity does not, typically, have caveats and addendum. It needs to be consistent to be worth a damn.

People, I've found, respect integrity. All people, regardless of where they are.

I really internalized the concept of integrity while working as a Corrections Officer for the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

My Lieutenant had a mantra for how to interact with inmates, and it has stuck with me for well over a decade: "Firm, Fair, and Consistent."

He was right- arbitrary application of rules and policies just caused problems for everyone.

It should be the same in your behavior and world-view. Firm, fair, and consistent.

I consider myself amoral because I feel that morals and ethics are situational. That, at times, such codes require flexibility.

What is right in one situation is not right in a second, perhaps similar situation.

This being the case, my internal rule set is a general guideline. It gives me enough flexibility to be in a particular situation and find a solution that I feel comfortable with, while giving me the 'Hard Stop' I need to keep my keel straight.

"Firm, Fair, and Consistent'. Those are my words to live by.

Finally, I have one last thing to add to this, as I feel this more or less gives the general jist of who I am.

TL;DR: Be Excellent To Eachother. Treat yourself and others with respect. Find Love and Beauty, especially when everything is turning to shit.

I love you , and I love you . I hope the best for each of you, and I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day.
