@brainblasted
I think Facebook is bloated with features. I'd rather have a program for federated chat, one for images, one for events, one for videos and pleroma/mastodon for posts and work to optimize the communication between them (implementing a single login). Easier to develop, debug, customize and more unix
@dansup It is an important matter... admins may choose not to use it, but having the option to do it is just fair. I mean, storage has a cost, asking people to chip in if they want some extra storage (for example) feels like a sane policy.
I'd say to limit how much they can use a feature (like storage or HD pictures) though, not blocking features altogether
Wondering what the best practice would be on #mastodon for people talking in more languages.
I don't like to have my timeline spammed with languages I don't understand, so would avoid writing in another language here. So what, making another account? Would be useful to have "subchannels", like #peertube does, so that one may just follow my English posts.
Any thought on the matter? What would you consider the best practice here?
@ral thanks, I'll give that a look, always like small space food production =)
@ral
Mine sprouted too and I plant them. They are growing fine, do you know of any special needs they have?
@freemo
No, it's a friend's food forest I've helped to design =)
It's so true that a bath in the right moment in the right place can be so relaxing... and so ecologically useful!

I use syncthing and keepass too across all my devices. Working flawlessly since 2 years now
@szbalint
I realized I haven't written an #introduction yet!
I am an Italian guy who really can't get to be a pro.
After I finished my bachelor in medical herbs, I started to work as an IT while travelling, and discovered a passion in land design, #permaculture, and tinkering with productive ecosystems in general. Most of what I do is aimed to #environment regeneration, much of it as a volunteer.
I've always been a self-thought amateur in most things, but now I am deciding the take the next step and get back to uni to take a formal path in #agroecology.
I quit with social medias around 6 years ago. Only now, inspired by the foss attitude of the fediverse, I'm slowly getting back, still testing the water with my toes. I'd like to create a network of #environmentalist with a scientific but hands-on approach. Hope I'm in the right place!
@freemo yeah, I've seen that, looks very smooth, I was thinking of a single login for various services like using oauth
@freemo it works, that's magic! I wonder what options are there to connect a mastodon account to a peertube one
The qoto.org Mastodon instance now has a PeerTube instance up at https://video.qoto.org (you can follow PeerTube users from any Mastodon/pleorma/diaspora/etc account). So cool!
@black welcome man =)
@Elizafox totally agree, just a taxonomic note: we are a (sub)specie, not a race
@freemo well, thanks for your reply and your kindness in keeping this instance up and running then!
Just as a note, pleroma supports both ostatus and activitypub (internally too, as it uses for the instance chat), and does federated timelines just as good, AFAIK.
@freemo Sorry, so far all I can bring is my support and questions =D I'd be curious to know how you plan to make this instance self-sustaining, money-wise, and if you have any idea on how to keep the focus you write in the home page. Also, if there is any reason you chose mastodon over pleroma, I can't find a detailed comparison anywhere
@freemo browsing through instances to find my place, this scholars/science focused one looks promising, and I see you are integrating it more in the fediverse, very cool. I'll follow how it grows with interest.
