* MicroBlog is frequently used to refer to shorter posts and content. Probably originated in Twitter, this expression is also commonly used by fedi developers.

One liner cryptic thingies, really not my thing, I wouldn't even say the word belongs.

But I made a post this morning that I do believe would be a real MicroBlog -- formatted and without unsightly naked URL links (kilometers long sometimes)

Saved a Screenshot to post here -- as it's formatting doesn't display well in plain Mastodon instances.

Screen as seen at the GlitchSocial instance where the post was made, rendered here via Pinafore client.

will get it too :blobsmilehappyeyes:

Oh, geez. I think my report of "the bug is gone!" was premature.

Full backup, new Windows 2004 install, and the system is lovely, fast, pleasure.

But --- oh oh. Overlapping images are Baaack.

@Sphinx @freemo , FYI, as I am thinking it might be browser related. And I couldn't try in MS Edge, as the add on is required, a FF native one.

Will report if I get any more findings.

...and that pretty crafted post, in a masto instance looks like... ----v

@Sphinx @freemo Follow up -- This problem has been solved somehow.

I just posted on local feed, with a screenshot -- and repeating here to Close this Reported Bug.

Thank you!

Screenshot shows -- Toot Editor correctly placed, ABOVE underlying media in local feed messages.

And a good diplomat and Jedi Consular that I am, now we celebrate a marked improvement in a fellow and friendly instance.

We had a conversation this morning (it's still ongoing, with many other participants, various topics. No shit, great!)

But I stepped out to register a Qapla! (success in Klingon) moment.

Tom has listened, and is implementing changes, that in my opinion make his instance a better one.

I am giving his my Recommendation seal of approval -- details and reasons in my full formatted post at :

Thanks Tom! out.

Hiccup, lost an eye, maybe some street battle. Still lovely, are a passion for me.

Cats, always better with company. Just hangin' out.

And it's but Also or ...

So I thought -- why not post a neat Referral to our feline loving Fediverse accounts that are present in these hashes ?

Here's my new idea, for a or FelinesFollowFridays (the short tag better?)

Some cool accounts to follow if you enjoy seeing Cats. Here's some of mine :

* Georgia's neat and Curated (selected photos, always tops ) --> @cats

* Cat Posting Bot is unbeatable for quantity. Some of you might not see his/her account, since it's on Pawoo, and that is blocked in some instances.

Find a **BETTER instance** without restrictions, maybe? Cat posting Bot is ----> @catpostingbot

* my own account, humbly sharing Twitter imported feline cuties since 2019 ---> @design_RG

* NEW find, Kittens Galore ! ---> @gattini

* fellow Japanese Feline lover --> @catstar

I even thought of checking the Trunk site -- but sadly there's *NO* Cats topic. Dogs have one. We Want One.

communitywiki.org/trunk/

Any suggestions to add? Msg me, will add on a future repost. Thank you...

And as Aurynn said :

It's aka -- an old custom from birdsite that deserves (and gets) usage here in too.

> It’s ! Who do you recommend and why?

The WHY is important - -to just jot down an @ username doesn't show much effort or do any good.

There ARE plenty of cool, smart, sensitive, intelligent and fun people to consider. Give us some pointers.

Thanks Aurynn! 😄

Leonie, who is the admin of a nice instance I appreciate -- Koyu.space/about/

...has posted a nice idea this morning, screenshot added here.

That we should have a new hashtag, :

* to offer thank yous and appreciation for the work, expense and effort they pour in to keep these services running.
* many times covering the costs out of their pockets.
* and mostly not shown the recognition for all of that

I think it's a GREAT idea, and fully support that. I wrote a Long post here yesterday, showing similar appreciation for the unique openness shown by our local Qoto.org admin and founder.

I also posted a nice LP (my usual is Long Form, as you know), just a few minutes ago, showing appreciation for Nolan Lawson's work, as both a fedi admin and author of an outstanding client.

As an active and opinionated who was dismayed by recent events, including the attacks on Leonie's personal reputation by despicable people, I am joining this.

Let's make it happen. Show some love and kudos to your favourite admins and site staff.

Thanks for all your work, Leonie.

Koyu.space is a wonderful instance, I recommend it to any discerning user looking for a nice Glitch-Social instance.

@koyu 's OP is at : koyu.space/@koyu/1042912052074

The beauty and sleek design of Pinafore client keeps growing on me.

The speed, it's clear at first trying it; for any discerning user, it's surprisingly fast and light.

But there's more, and months after first encountering it, Pinafore still surprises me. In good ways.

There is no real good manual for it, sadly (and a Google or Bing search won't find much, very quickly offering unrelated things).

But I will try to have creating one a personal goal, a small payback for all the work and expertise that Nolan Lawson, the author, has poured into it.

I have written to Nolan and occasionally visit Toot Café, his cool mastodon instance. Have an account there, as I thought it could be a good way to learn more and offer suggestions to the Pinafore daddy. 🙂

And that has worked, and my comments and suggestions, questions, have been well received and quickly answered.

@koyu@koyu.space has suggested a great idea just a bit earlier this morning, to create an to show comments and appreciation for the work they put in.

That is something I fully support -- and I thank her for the idea, the great instance she puts so much into.

As well as posting this, in recognition of the talent, brilliance and modesty of @nolan -- who deserves Kudos for both his instance and the wonderful client that Pinafore is.

** Never heard about Pinafore?

...and hopefully my own blog post about it, as it's seriously nice and enjoyed by those who already discovered it.

@gawrsh We all started at some point, and are in the journey, there's always more to be learned if we are open to it, so you are on the good path!

I hope you found a good guide to get you started, as I did (via a Bing search) - I only joined the Fediverse on November 9 last Year or so.

You might not need it anymore, but I just recently laid down at did a careful read of the Guide I always recommend here. My conclusion is, that it's still a great one, I haven't found a better guide, and I used to search for them. To complement my knowledge and to have references to recommend to others.

This is the one :

"If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu "

I am thrilled that you are taking these recent Blog posts and discovering the wonder of finding new and unknown, unexplored places to see -- as I do love that as well.

Before that, I had been in many other places over time, and even wrote some blog pages telling the stories (I love story telling, and have a good amount of memories to use).

For reference, when you have a quiet time and want to relax, those are informative and related to Fediverse and what came before it.

* The Fediverse Reminds me So much of Fidonet! : write.tedomum.net/rgx/the-fedi

* Joining the Internet in the Mid 90's : write.tedomum.net/rgx/joining-

* Storytime - How I got Started in Computer Networking : write.tedomum.net/rgx/story-ti

If you enjoy these, there are other pages with topics that are more recent, like instances being blocked, which instance to choose. I can refer those when you are ready. Well - just one more! 😃

* Is it Important, which Instance you are In? : write.tedomum.net/rgx/is-it-im

* Crossposting, and Surprises Happened... *

Very recently I started thinking hard about moving - from a Mastodon instance to an alternative platform with more features. I have enjoyed this process, and wrote about it yesterday :

Muensterland.Social – a new Instance joined -- write.tedomum.net/rgx/muenster.

After staying up late one night, I had found a good instance, created and configured my account. Then on to bed, it was late.

Next day, as part of making it a productive account, I went on to configure a **Crossposter** for it.

That is the Topic of today's Blog : write.tedomum.net/rgx/crosspos

... and it had some surprising results.
