That lenghty thing is in dire need of a re-write, split into more pages would make it digestable more easily.
And, a TL;DR added as per Koyu's -- an excellent idea for the attention-deprived set.
I am not enthused either. A free host somewhere would be ideal I have set up my own forum and worked on it for months, but unless you have user participation it doesn't work -- it becomes a ghost town.
So do what Freemo suggested, use the area he mentioned and if you have a body of posts that show a growing presence, a new place can be adapted I think.
The whole Discourse forum will benefit -- usage there is way too light, a pity as it's a great resource.
@ourdiaspora No, I haven't -- never experienced Hubzilla, although seeing a post here by a local user showed a very pretty page and seems interesting.
Is it a nice alternative? Mastodon has some good points, but I like other projects and am open to trying and reporting my findings back -- so more people can find them too.
I went looking and seaching, and didn't find a Free Discourse Forums host so far.
Best I found was a professional install and config, done for you, costing $150 USD one time fee. This is installed into a Digital Ocean droplet small server, which is a $5 a month service fee.

Discourse.org also says you can do it yourself -- and provides this page to guide :

A Digital Ocean signup with a FREE one month of service deal -- https://m.do.co/c/a5bf212d9a92
Although staying here and using the already running service is the simplest option of all.
@globcoco
He will be seeing this as I included his attrib in the conversation. So think over what you would like to have, and present it here or in a Discourse topic even; whichever you prefer.
At Discourse it has the added advantage of staying visible for longer times. Toots disappear unless you know they are there, or search and find them accidentally.
@hansw You could use the hotspot function in a smatphone and link your laptop to it, for a larger screen.
But the essential in your case is seeing if the maps identify the CNG stations at all -- and possibly compared their results with another similar offering, for depth and accuracy of the listings.
Better yet, maybe carry two options with their maps loaded.
@Phaedrus LOL....
Thanks for the chuckle. The thoughts in that photo are seriously correct, imo.
But lightening up helps us, for sure.
You could think and articulate a proposal for an added area at our Discourse - really it's too much to front the cost and hassles of hosting one's own.
@freemo is the person to approach, just prepare a good post with the ideas lined out, the reasons and what you are proposing. He will listen.
If it could all fit into on Subforum, a new Project Forum like the one we added for Pinafore is very easily approved.
And an actively used subforum or area adds value to the whole Discourse instance -- we can really benefit from that, as it will attract other users.
@hansw I thought you would need to know the CNG stations, as they are essential.
Suggestion, use the Here Maps site on your computer, and do a search, zoom in and see if they are identified.
If so, then it could be the way to go. If not, that won;t take long and you can look at other alternatives supporting the listings you must have.
Good luck! And let us know if you find them -- I am using the OP above for a new Blog post, soon.
I would love to see it, Coralie. And Discourse is wonderful as it not only allows a richly formatted presentation, but it can be the buidling area for something later copied and pasted directly into a Blog post.
The Markdown source works so well -- I put out 3 new blog pages yesterday, in fairly short order, as the original Discourse was already polished and the text perfect.
Just added an intro above, trimmed images for Blog ideal sizes, and voilá. Trés facile.
Good morning, good afternoon for both of you in Europe. I am really glad to see the ideas developing and us making use of resources that are here, at hand, and open to new suggestions and approaches.
It was amazing to see how Paul took to the Discourse forums -- a resource I cherish but it's not that used by the community here. That can change, and I sure hope it does. I will support and help in any way I can, as I see potential and love to explore myself.
We are always open to new ideas. The same way that Paul suggested and got a new Astronomy subforum, and I got a much needed Pinafore one, we could accept requests if people bring suggestions and take leadership in providing content and supporting one of those new areas.
Serendipity is wonderful, and I am so glad we crossed paths and started conversations -- not only us, but others will benefit from them.
Have worked in Education for many years, and now I do it in this new environment, under my own direction, learning every day.
Wonderful to see new ideas germinating. Thank you both.
Bonjour Ange, Coralie,
@globcoco That is a nice thought, to keep in mind, Coralie.
I don't have any cats at this moment, had 2 for many years. Then they got sick, and at one point one passed away, which was very hard for me; 6 months later, the other one went over the Rainbow bridge too. I felt desolated, the house so empty. I still get very tender and emotional, tearing up as I remember these last moments.
We had about 12 years together, they were my companions, and gave me consolation, great joy, and the pleasure to admire their nature, their ways. I am not sure what's ahead for me in life, there might be a change that I think it's best not to assume the care of another brother or sister feline. But I have volunteered at a Cat Adoption Center, and that gave me joy, the pleasure of being close to them, so many, different sizes, colours, temperaments.
I use the Black Cat as my avatar here, it's my inner Familiar. I have always been similar to a cat in temperament and ways, actions.
Good morning, just starting the day, and it was a pleasure to do it reading and responding to your message, mon amie.
A good Box is wonderful for any feline.

Molly and I are trying to do a little work before bedtime 😺 Taught school today and people seem to have forgotten that the virus is dangerous. My students just told me that I’m the only teacher to tell them to socially distance?! Hope they are exaggerating! I made them move🙀

Murphy and CC are hanging out this evening.
Vet visit went well. His doc thinks he has OCD/Anxiety issues which is causing the constant leg licking. He will go on kitty Prozac to see if that helps. Otherwise nothing major of note! ❤️😻
