@Sphinx Those accents do help hint at the correct pronunciation. 😉

@yantrajaal @freemo Not sure if this would help here, but it's on Settings -- Appearance.

What I do is hold down a post on the Federate feed by clicking on it's right side and resisting the UI trying to move it down with new posts. Eventually it senses what I mean, and it stays static.

I have also implemented a Language filter for my feeds, eliminating languages I do not read, like Japanese, Mandarin, etc.

Select only the ones you can read, at least partially. Leave all others blanked out. Save and you will have a lot less posts, specially in times of the day that the Asian users are actively posting.

@Sphinx Many languages have acent marks for that. gárlic would emphasize the a, but acent marks are not used in English.

Do you (or someone you know in a Portland, OR business or organization) have a computational problem for which you need a piece of software? Let me know and maybe my Software Development class can help you out.

I think it is high time to get rid of our extremely irrational fear of nuclear power. The world has moved beyond Chernobyl ... technologyreview.com/s/612940/

@yantrajaal Very appropriate, as I had been thinking of writing an article with a proposal - for Nuclear power usage in creating the huge amount of heat and steam needed to extract bitumen from the Canadian oil sands.

There is a lot of opposition to the oil sands operations, and the biggest argument (correctly) stated the ROI of energy required per barrel extracted is much higher than on a conventional oil well.

That is due to the nature of the oil sands -- heavy, thick oil that has diffused from underground deposits thru sand over long times and pressures.

My proposal is that a nuclear power plant would very efficiently produce large amounts of heat and steam, which could be directly used by the oil extraction plants.

This would reduce the carbon foot print substantially.

And, there are much newer designs than the old plants that have been around for long and had the scary accidents everyone remembers. Smaller size plants would be perfect, sited close to the end users of their output, since we are sending steam down the pipes.

I will get around to writing this, but we can start a discussion if anyone is interested.

Nobody in Canada has mention this idea, and the western oil producing regions are very inflamed with the ecological movement's complaints.

Suppose you come across a genie who gives you a boon that you can explore any one celestial object(only one) and without dying - which object would you choose to explore?

I would love to explore a neutron star 🌟

I have heard that 1 spoon of neutron star contains the mass of mount Everest 😱

@kabir Well said, Kabir.

These days, I am past the have kids days, all grown up, last one on 2nd year uni. The best for me now is traveling, which I do on a backpacker, adventurous style and enjoy so much.

So little that we *really* need; I am away for 2 months with just what fits on my backpack (and it's not a huge one, about 50 l or so).

Seeing the world is wonderful, experiencing cultures, places, history. Love it.

@Sphinx I would think it should work, that's not too far off their spec. Specially if you have more RAM than they request.

@Sphinx Spell or grammar errors are ok, we can't edit any sent messages by design. I hate when it happens to me, so I can relate.

Ordering or even eating out here in North America is not so fun. Lower quality and higher prices than I experience when travelling in Europe, where people live life better, imo. 😔

@Sphinx What programme required that? Mine here, the best one I have, is just a bit under. Quad core i7, 2 GHz max. Got 8 GB ram though.

Ram made a big difference when running BlueStacks Android emulator, it runs smooth here; on my Thinkpad, a test install, it ran after complaining, 4 GB too low, blah blah blah, and it was slow and not fun.

A nice Android environment for testing or running any android apps in a Windows machine though. Very easy install.

Yes, it's salted cod, prepared in the oven. With a lot of fresh virgin olive oil and garlic, not much else required.

This style of preparing it originated when people took their olives to the Lagar (the place with the equipment to press them), extracted them and had this rich, rich olive oil - which you waited a full year for, there's only one crop per year.

That is basically Olive juice, and the freshest the better. Can't get any fresher than just after pressing it. 😜

so people devised this style, recipe, to taste the oil and prepare a meal. It goes in the oven, and the olive oil gets infused by the garlic, and then penetrates the potatoes, which have been hit by a hand blow to crack them (Batatas ao Murro is the local name, Potatoes Smacked in a free translation).

This takes a while to prepare, time in the oven. but it's worth the wait.

Accompany ANY Cod dish with RED wine, not white. The fish is tangy with concentrated flavour, and white just is not robust enough.

@11112011 Knows this style for sure. 😉 🍷

@mngrif @Rovine

@sda
Wonderful if you can do that.

Now, is there a center to it? Would it be the location of the original "big bang' moment?

@n0btc@mastodon.radio @raining_night

@dayvancowboy Funny that you should mention Relayer, a wondeful image. I have it open since a day or so ago, in one of zillion tabs here, lol.

Here's a line, full quailty image.

Not my photo, but to prove food pics don't have to be nasty.

Bacalhau à Lagareiro, aka Cod Lagar style. Best way to prepare it in my opinion. Glorious food of Portugal. 🇵🇹

I will even throw in the desert, Pastéis de Nata, Custard Tarte in UK speak.

@mngrif Nah, gotta have a pic to claim excellence and ++reputation. 😛

@mngrif It's spreading out too, they have it in Brazil.

Preceded by prices been raised, so they can be discounted for the sale! 😛
