Some people don't see it as a problem and it avoids a lot of problems for an instance.

Reputational Damage is a thing, and hard to repair.

There are places where free expression of opinions, regarless of other's opinions and sensitivities, are prime concern.

Qoto has a modified and VERY nice Wide Screen theme -- one of only two instances I had seen at the time.

I have collected dozens of screenshots, and only Qoto and Todon would give me this -- screenshot below.

The additonal niceness of suppressing the left side panel completely, and putting reply boxes right under any posts, those are Escuero's work -- and made possible by using his neat Collapsed Mastodon addon for Firefox or chrome.

It's done at runtime, and it would be optimal if the local theme incorporated the CSS mods Escuero's work does.

But that needs someone with the skill and time to handle that.

My goal is to see if Glitch devs will see it as useful and take these in -- honestly, they are great ideas and improve the Mastodon experience greatly.

Won't wait for Eugen, as he's got his own ideas and too much to do already.

@globcoco I tried with Eugen R, the head of Mastodon development, and he wasn't too appreciative (he's a hard core, old time Twitter user and likes the 4 columns skinny displays of TweetDeck -- the source of his design for Mastodon's own AWI).

But I am not giving up -- I plan to take that and present it to the Glitch-Social devs, at their own Git hub hangout.

Maybe they will see there's a use for this; a highly productive layout for reading and writing.

This is so nice that it's the only reason for me not to use Pinafore 100% of the time.

I prepared a mock up and showed it to Nolan to create a similar 2 panel Pinafore, but he didn't bite. 😜

Me too, but it's productive - - as the conversations feed new ideas, and they might develop. I need to get off to go into production mode, as I have to support the Pinafore Forum, and have an idea for a new page.

Plus others for other blog pages. Plus about 15 letters pending replies. Ugh.

But I give value to the conversations we have, and find them important, inspiring. So, there's time for all.

From the little they disclosed on their post, it seems like a local way to create a post, similar to a local instance (and much, much easier to install).

But saving to a live, external host.

I would try it, if it was out for Windows. Or if I got a llinux system running here, but I am too stretched time wise to put time into that.

My personal letters are way behind since Blog is now high priority, and our conversations are so rich and important.

These we got to be thannkful for, when they happen, and they only do if the people are all around at the same time.

So, my poor pen pals are having long delayed responses, and I do write long letters to them, usually.

It's just that Pinafore is actually being nice and putting in a CW when it was needed (content was long).

I actually LIKE the view of Qoto's Local timeline a lot better in Pinafore as we are getting many LP by some of our users.

Just for the replies we need to keep it in mind, not need unless they are really long ones.
