@trinsec lol typical
@trinsec That doesnt mean we are neanderthals... it only implies we have common ancestry.
Interesting fact of the day: The first archaeological evidence of instruments, a flute, was **not** made by humans, in fact, it was made by a neanderthal and is 60,000 years old.
In many senses, I find #qoto sets high standards for communication in #fediverse. You have enabled connected services, allowed 65K characters, you have robust policy, we can use markdown in posts, and you are also very welcoming, responsive, and open community!
@freemo It’s clear and simple, and a modified version has actually been the default in Soapbox for about 2 years! https://gitlab.com/soapbox-pub/soapbox/-/blob/develop/app/instance/about.example/index.html
@alex Very cool, glad you liked it. Also glad it has been useful for your community in that regard. Happy to have indirectly contributed.
I just noticed @alex copied QOTOs rules/about page when he wrote the gleasonator about page. I dont mind of course, I am glad he found them valuable. A lot of servers seem to replicate our rules in fact, its an honor if anything.
I'm glad he fund it valuable.
@dentalflossbay it just comes down to if you want to hide the image and text or just the image.
@dentalflossbay No, sensative blurs the image and requires you to hit a button to unblur. CW will hide the whole message behind a button and users wont even know an image is attached at first.
@radehi wonderful... tickers were a styling element that showed what server a post was from, sadly is its gone now.
@admitsWrongIfProven yea any theme without a ticker should work.. I dont recall which have tickers and which dont off hand but i am pretty sure the dark theme doesnt have one.
@deegeese yes, of course it would.. you have to keep teh no-ticker enabled. With the ticker down it is equivalent without the broken call.
@rmerriam yea for code formatting ive noticed some similar issues... not sure the cause just yet.
Everyone please be aware that the service we used to use that provided tickers went down and doesnt plan to go back up.. This unfortunately slows down the default theme.
As such I switched the default theme to the no-ticket theme and this works just fine. However im not sure it will help for people already signed up on the server.
To fix the problem please go intto your preferences and change the theme to the no-ticket theme.
@deegeese yes this is because the ticker service recently came down.. switching to a theme without a ticker will solve it.. im fixing it
@unamanic There are significantly fewer people in the world between 40 and 60 than there is between 26 and 40.. so this might even things out a bit. We would have to normalize for the population if you really wanted accurate numbers WRT how exceptional the age distribution is.
Interesting, apparently about half of the fediverse are people in their 40s and 50s.
