@freemo If you aren't already on fediblock, you're not really participating in the fedi.

@freemo @SpaceLifeForm @jerry @paco Hmm... Well, first off, I don't know a whole lot about this case. Seeing a bit of the discourse made me think of a few things though.

For starters, while "local servers" "sound" cool, once an Internet hostile country like the U.K. comes into the picture, it is far more uncool. Federation only really works well among people who actually believe in it for one. Even .art appears to be run by someone living there. Also, a few people there can be nosy, particularly about things which don't matter.

At first glance, it isn't obvious this server is run out of there, as it uses a .com domain. In fact, I was not aware of this, until I noticed the *other instance* he operates during the dispute between you and him.

Didn't the United States fight a revolution to escape from the control of the British crown?

He also seems more evasive than a liar.

@LouisIngenthron

A common, and untrue conspiracy theory.

While there is a small hint of truth, that the voting numbers will not reflect actual support in a FPTP system the idea that that is reflective of the chance of a third party actually winning or that it favors the **same** two parties every time is absolutely incorrect.

FPTP only gives the illusion of a two party system because the parties that are in the lead tend to take a larger portion of the vote than the **real** support (due to effects from FPTP, namely coalition building effects). This however in no way suggests the same two parties will be locked in election after election. In fact quite the opposite.

FPTP actually will show a pattern where every time a third-party option wins it will go from very low support in the previous election (ie 1%) to majority support int he next, in a single step (51%+). Essentially FPTP only ensures every election 2 parties will take the bulk of the votes, it in no way suggests those 2 parties are more likely to remain in control.

It helps when you look at real support and how it translates. If you have real support such as Party A:21% B: 20% C: 19% D: 15% E: 15% F: 10% Then the actual voting results will be something like A: 60% B: 39%. So all C really needs is 2% more support to change things next election in all reality and if they do then youd have A and C getting the lead.

@LouisIngenthron

The proof will ber in the pudding. I can only speak to the options we have had to date. It is perfectly possible they may not be a great choice either and a different third party may look much more appealing, we will see.

@LouisIngenthron

In this scenario republicans are the quicksand, democrats are the wrote with poison, all other parties are various ropes of varying quality (but not poisoned).

@WhiteCatTamer @lauren

@LouisIngenthron

Debatable. So far their presidential candidates have been less evil than the two top parties, that may change next election, lets see.

It's sad that when your instance grows, you need to deal with people who unable to do due diligence. Because they are ruining experience of YOUR instance users 🤦

@olives

Other way around. He started this by banning QOTO without cause (And justifying it) across all the servers he hosts. I called him out for lying and abusive practices. Since then a bunch of people stepped forward presenting evidence of his abuse.

He is now retaliating regarding the fact that I called him out.

@SpaceLifeForm @jerry @paco

@VyrCossont

He is lying. Let me give you the timeline.

1) A bunch of posts have been popping up of this moderator abusing their moderator privilages and being abusive and/or negligent to their own users and other servers

2) I confronted him

3) He doubled down and in my confrontation quite a few users stood up with evidence against him

4) I posted a public post calling for any evidence as I was compiling a list of evidence against this moderator's abuse. See link to post (note timestamps):

qoto.org/@freemo/1119095819116

5) Within minutes of us making the above post he posts this post we are on now as a retaliation for #4

6) I then reply to his post showing its a retaliation and a lie, and reiterate the link to the source code.

I also report him to his own moderation team and show proof.

7) Once he is caught red handed he edits the fediblock post to try to make it seem innocent and not a lie.

If you need screenshots or proof I have been collecting it.

@SpaceLifeForm

I also want to point out, no need to beleive me. Literally anyone is welcome to open an account here and see for themselves. If a user blocks you, once the block is seen ont he next refresh, you cant see their posts anymore. There is a short window where if the server doesnt "know" you are blocked yet you can still reshare, but once the cache updates it goes away.

So literally anyone can just test it and see im telling the truth.

@jerry @paco

@SpaceLifeForm

Thank you. While I am sure you mean in support of what I said, rather than against it may not be clear to others based on how you worded that which side you are agreeing with :)

@jerry @paco

I want to make sure is aware that this post was made entirely in retaliation to this post I made one hour earlier:

qoto.org/@freemo/1119087628324

As I state explicitly this is a bald face lie that we have any modifications in our code base. Our codebase is public and linked. At no point did we change anything. They are just lying in retaliation to the above post (look at time stamps to see)

A #Fediblock Notice: We are recommending servers add "qoto.org" to their Fediblock lists, and where possible add IP blocks to prevent their servers...

Hahaha, some people are just hilariously stupid. This guy thinks he "got me" by getting me to admit these two accounts are both mine. LOL I literally have my full name posted and pictures of me.... Ok there detective nitwit, lol.

Then he thinks he is slick trying to "get me" on a second account like he is being slick or something, lolololol.

@freemo We were discussing racism and you've changed the subject, which is probably not the way to convince me you're arguing in good faith. But ...

@AlphaKiloPapa

Its extremely easy to get out of echo chambers. Thats not the problem, the problem is that you dont know your in one until its too late.
