#2545 Bayes' Theorem

P((B|A)|(A|B)) represents the probability that you'll mix up the order of the terms when using Bayesian notation.

I'm still talking to that HS crush, few days in now. It is so surreal hearing all these stories about me from being a kid partly because you never really remember yourself accurately or all that well at all.

I'm reminded of awkward things I did like never talk to her and didnt really make eye contact with her (which she noticed because she always wanted me to). But other really nice things like she remembers how I was so unusual for being very mature and career driven at only 15/16 years old. She recalled me having a few conversations with teachers where I tried to understand really advanced maths or discuss my career outside of HS.

Anyway this trip down memory lane the last few days has been so enriching. So happy she tracked me down after 22 years :)

For those of you who cant read the interview/article about me in newsday back when I was 17 years old, here are some screenshots of it instead.

An interview where I answer some questions over the phone for a reporter with newsday. I was 17 at the time, nad had been in college for about 2 years and started my own company and software project that had exploded. I was on national news at the time like fortune magazine and front page of USA today, even had a bunch of TV interviews.

Reason I wanted to share this one is it is one of the few surviving interviews where I actually answer questions back and forth:

An old post I made in a forum back in 1999 when I was 15 years old trying to figure out how special relativity worked... It is interesting coming across old gems of my childhood on the internet.

me:

hmmm I wonder if I should ask her out...

::finds out she likes me back::

Ok that's suspicious, she might not be dating material after all...

Interesting fact of the day.

Did you know this sentence I am writing right now is true? Yes indeed, despite popular belief it is true.

Happy Mens day, to all the amazing men in the world and the many wonderful things men have done and accomplished everywhere, thank you, you are all appreciated!

I was thinking hard about what point or takeaway i wanted to give everyone as we all celebrate Men's Day. I think on days like this its good to do two things: celebrate the good things, and also be more aware of ways in which men can be the target of sexism, regardless of how that might compare to the oppression of women which is a topic for the other days out of the year.

I think one of the most important examples of sexism against men is the way they are treated when seeking help as the victim of physical or sexual abuse. In the vast majority of cases they are either turned away or appalingly often accused of being the abuser themselves if you can beleive that. The problem is massively common as the graph below shows.

Im not sure what we should do about it but i am sure we shoukd be aware of it.

As a big supporter of the anti-assault weapon movement I need to say, we need more legislation to make this a reality.

Just a few days ago someone killed someone in a Assault Car. No one needs a car made from industrial strength steel with a high capacity gas tank. You only need 5 gallons of gas to get to work at most, we dont need these kinda of Assault Cars on the streets people!

We don't celebrate thanksgiving in my house, we celebrate festivus... The tradition of Festivus begins with the Airing of Grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now, you're gonna hear about it.
